Raeesah Khan
Raeesah Begum bte Farid Khan (born 1993) is a Singaporean social activist and former politician. A former member of the opposition Workers' Party (WP), she was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Compassvale division of Sengkang GRC between 2020 and 2021. She resigned from the Workers' Party and Parliament on 30 November 2021 after making unsubstantiated allegations in Parliament on three occasions. In 2020, Khan was elected to the Workers’ Party central executive committee as Deputy Treasurer and was also a town councilor as Vice-Chairwoman of the Sengkang Town Council until 2021. Arab Singaporeans
The majority of the Arabs in Singapore are Hadhramis tracing their ancestry from the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula called Hadhramaut, Yemen. Some of the people living there are known as “Hadhramis”. The land there is mostly desert region. The fertile areas, suitable for cultivation, are small and concentrated in the wadi region. This harsh natural environment drove the Hadhramis to travel out of the area to trade and acquire the necessary items they needed. Rahayu binte Mahzam ( Jawi: رحايو مهزم; born 1980) is a Singaporean politician who has been serving as Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Law concurrently since 2022. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), she has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Bukit Batok East division of Jurong GRC since 2015. A lawyer by profession, Rahayu specialises in civil litigation and family law. She made her political debut in the 2015 general election as part of a five-member PAP team contesting in Jurong GRC and won 79.3% of the vote. An upset occurs in a competition, frequently in electoral politics or sports, when the party popularly expected to win (the "favorite"), either loses to or draws/ties a game with an underdog whom the majority expects to lose, defying the conventional wisdom.
