Radu Petrescu (rugby Referee)
Radu Petrescu (born 19 April 1980) is a Romanian rugby referee who mainly referees club rugby in such tournaments as the Romanian SuperLiga. Player career Petrescu started playing rugby in 1990 with local team Grivița. At the end of his junior years he played for a short period of time for SuperLiga giants, Steaua. He ended his playing career just before moving to seniors, choosing to concentrate on his studies at the University of Bucharest. Referee career Petrescu started his refereeing career in 2000 and is considered by many one of the most valuable referees in Romanian Rugby. Petrescu refereed 3 matches at the 2011 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in Georgia. Wing (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and Line-out (rugby union), line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs. Props push in the scrums, while the hooker tries to secure the ball for their team by "hooking" it back with their heel. The Rugby Europe International Championships is the European Championship for tier 2 and tier 3 rugby union nations. The tournament is split into 5 levels, each with 5 or 6 teams. Its highest level is now called the Rugby Europe Championship and, unofficially, referred to as the Six Nations B. All levels play on a one-year cycle, replacing the old format of a two-year cycle, with the teams playing each other both home and away. European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) is the governing body and organiser of the two major European rugby union club tournaments: the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. A third tournament, the European Rugby Challenge Cup Qualifying Competition was introduced as a qualification competition for clubs from minor nations to enter the Challenge Cup.
