Radovna (valley)
The Radovna Valley ( sl, Radovna, ) is an alpine valley in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, traditionally part of Upper Carniola. It is included in Triglav National Park in its entirety. Geography The Radovna Valley is surrounded by the northern extensions of the Pokljuka Plateau, the foothills of the Triglav range, and the highest peak of the Mežakla Plateau, Jerebikovec (). It is connected by a road via the Kosmač Pass to the north with nearby Mojstrana and a road leads down the valley towards Bled. The Radovna River, created by smaller tributaries from the glacial valleys of the Krma and Kot valleys, flows through it. From the valley, the Radovna continues its flow into the Vintgar Gorge, a deep and picturesque canyon, and finally joins the Sava Dolinka near Moste. Zgornja Radovna
Zgornja Radovna () is a dispersed settlement in the Municipality of Kranjska Gora, northwestern Slovenia, belonging to the traditional region of Upper Carniola. The village lies at the juncture of the Kot Valley and the northern part of the Krma Valley (i.e., the Lower Krma Valley, sl, Spodnja Krma). The Radovna (river), Radovna River, a tributary of the Sava Dolinka, emerges under the Jutrova Skala Slope () in the northeastern part of the settlement. Pocar Farm The Pocar Farm () in Zgornja Radovna has one of the oldest traditional Farmhouse, farmhouses in Triglav National Park, with the year 1775 engraved on one of its beams and a written attestation from 1672. It is one of the best-preserved examples of traditional 18th-century Alps, Alpine architecture and has been protected as a cultural monument of national significance. Moste, Žirovnica
Moste () is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. Hydroelectric plant Moste is the location of the Moste Hydroelectric Plant, the first hydro-electric power plant to have been built on the Sava Dolinka River. It has a high dam (the highest dam in Slovenia to date) in the Kavčke Gorge, right before the Sava is joined by the Radovna. The plant was built using forced labor by political prisoners from camps set up after the Second World War. Church The church in the centre of the village is dedicated to Saint Martin. It is a single-aisle church with late Gothic features and frescoes on the interior dating to 1430. The altar dates to 1638 and the remaining church furnishings are from the 19th century. Vintgar Gorge
The Vintgar Gorge ( sl, soteska Vintgar) or Bled Gorge () is a gorge in northwestern Slovenia in the municipalities of Gorje and Bled, four kilometers northwest of Bled. Carved by the Radovna River, it is the continuation of the Radovna Valley. The sheer canyon walls are high, with a total slope measuring about . The stream has created many erosive features such as pools and rapids, and terminates in the picturesque Šum Falls (literally, 'noisy falls'), the largest river waterfall in Slovenia. Krma (valley)
Krma is an alpine valley in the Julian Alps in the Upper Carniola region of northwestern Slovenia. The entire valley lies in Triglav National Park. Name The name ''Krma'' is of uncertain origin, possibly derived from a substrate root such as *''karma'' or *''garma'', which may be preserved in Istrian Romance ''karma'' 'rock crevice'; it is less likely to be related to Albanian ''karmë'' 'rocky hill'. It cannot be excluded that the name may also be connected with the Slovene common noun ''krma'' 'fodder' because of historical pasturing activity in the valley.
