Radical Party (Bolivia)
The Radical Party (Spanish: ''Partido Radical'', PR) was founded in 1913, following a split in the Liberal Party in Bolivia. The "Radical Generation" of the Liberal Party was made up of progressive young liberals. They were a kind of liberal left who hoped that through their criticisms the ruling Party could be persuaded to rectify its errors. The history of the Radical Party is, above all, the history of the newspaper campaigns inspired by Franz Tamayo Solares. In 1913 the workers engaged in bitter opposition to the liberal Federación Obrera de La Paz joined up with these young Radical politicians in rebellion against the President Ismael Montes Gamboa. This alliance resulted in the formation of the Radical Party, inspired by Franz Tamayo Solares, Felipe Segundo Guzmán and Tomás Manuel Elio. Liberal Party (Bolivia)
The Liberal Party (Spanish: ''Partido Liberal'', PL) was one of two major political parties in Bolivia in the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The other was the Conservative Party. The Liberal Party was formally founded in 1883 by Eliodoro Camacho. The party espoused freedom of religion, a strict separation between church and state, legal acceptance of civil marriages and divorce, and strict adherence to democratic procedures. When the party took power in 1899, it moved the base of the presidency and the Congress to La Paz, which became the ''de facto'' capital city. The Supreme Court remained in Sucre. To this day, Sucre is the ''de jure'' capital of Bolivia while La Paz acts as the ''de facto'' seat of government. Franz Tamayo
Franz Tamayo Solares (28 February 1879 in La Paz – 29 July 1956) was a Bolivian intellectual, writer, and politician. The Franz Tamayo Province is named after him. He was renowned for his oratory. A prominent Bolivian poet and philosopher, he wrote a number of educational treatises and also practiced law, journalism, and diplomacy. Tamayo was of Mestizo background; he had both Aymara and Spanish ancestry. Career and influence Tamayo's racial concepts were and continue to be very influential in Bolivian thought, life, and culture. Ismael Montes Gamboa (5 October 1861 – 16 October 1933) was a Bolivian general and political figure who served as the 26th president of Bolivia twice nonconsecutively from 1904 to 1909 and from 1913 to 1917. During his first term, the Treaty of Peace and Friendship with Chile was signed on October 20, 1904. Early life and military career Montes was born on October 5, 1861 in the city of La Paz, Bolivia. He belonged to a wealthy land owning family. Montes was the son of General Clodomiro Montes and Tomasa Gamboa. The Republican Party (Spanish: ''Partido Republicano'', PR) was a Bolivian political party founded in 1914.
