Radical Cause
The Radical Cause ( es, La Causa Radical, LCR), stylized as La Causa Я, is a minor left-wing political party in Venezuela, and today part of the Venezuelan opposition to president Nicolás Maduro. At its peak in the early 1990s, the party came within touching distance of winning the 1993 presidential elections. However, the party split in 1997 when a number of members left to form Patria Para Todos, now part of the pro-government Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) electoral alliance. LCR has now lost much of its national profile, but retains some influence in its home region of Guayana. Andrés Velásquez
Andrés Velásquez is a Venezuelan politician of the Radical Cause (''La Causa Radical'') party. Formerly the general secretary of the steelworkers union of SIDOR, he became one of the leaders of Radical Cause after the death of its founder, Alfredo Maneiro, in 1982. He was the governor of Bolívar State from 1989 to 1995, and a member of the National Assembly of Venezuela from 2000 to 2006. In the 2000 Venezuelan regional elections he ran unsuccessfully for the governorship of Anzoátegui state. He was Radical Cause's candidate in the 1993 Venezuelan presidential election, coming fourth with 22% of the vote; Rafael Caldera became president with 30.5%. He had also been Radical Cause's candidate in the 1983 election and 1988 election, gaining less than 1% of the vote. Fatherland For All
Fatherland for All (''Patria Para Todos'', PPT) is a leftist political party in Venezuela. It was founded on September 27, 1997 by members of The Radical Cause party led by Pablo Medina, Aristóbulo Istúriz and Alí Rodríguez Araque. In 1998 the PPT supported the first presidential candidacy of Hugo Chávez. It is currently led by Rafael Uzcátegui. In the 2015 legislative elections held on 6 December, Fatherland for All backed the governmental electoral alliance Great Patriotic Pole (GPP). On this occasion, the party did not win any constituency representative out of 167 seats available at the unicameral National Assembly. Thus, it has no deputies of its own for the 2016–2021 term and is bound by law (in Spanish) to renew its credentials with the National Electoral Council to keep functioning as a political party. The Bolivarian Revolution is a political process in Venezuela that was led by Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, the founder of the Fifth Republic Movement and later the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). Aristóbulo Istúriz Almeida (20 December 1946 – 27 April 2021) was a Venezuelan politician and academic who was vice president of the Constituent Assembly of Venezuela in August 2017; he was also the vice president of Venezuela from January 2016 to January 2017. Democratic Action ( es, Acción Democrática, AD) is a Venezuelan social democratic and centre-left political party established in 1941. The party played an important role in the early years of Venezuelan democracy, leading the government during Venezuela's first democratic period (1945–1948). The Chamber of Deputies () was the lower house of Venezuela's legislative under its 1961 constitution; the Venezuelan Senate was the upper house.
