Radford, Coventry
Radford is a suburb and electoral ward of Coventry, located approximately 1.5 miles north of Coventry city centre. It is covered by the Coventry North West constituency. Geography Radford ward is bounded by Holbrooks, Foleshill, St Michael's, Sherbourne, and Bablake wards. It is covered by the North East Neighbourhood Management area. It covers an area of 303.9 hectares. Radford consists of four neighbourhoods; Radford Diamond, East Radford, West Radford, and Canal Basin. Radford Diamond is located approximately one mile to the northwest of Coventry city centre and is bounded by Barkers Butts Lane, Lawrence Saunders Road and the Radford Road with the Coventry-Nuneaton railway forming the southern boundary. Radford Electronics is a British audio manufacturer from Bristol, founded by Arthur Hedley Radford (G6YA) in 1946. Radford's hi-fi amplifiers enjoyed a reputation for quality that was "second to none", especially because of their output transformers. History Radford began building amplifiers in 1946, and marketed its first hifi-amplifier in 1959. Reportedly, Radford make amplifiers with such low distortion that they had to build their own test equipment to measure it; their test equipment also acquired a reputation for quality. In 1961, the company released the STA range of amplifiers, accompanied by the DSM pre-amplifier. The Series 3 STA25, along with other Amplifiers in the STA range, won critical acclaim. Radford (band)
Radford are an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles. Formed in 1997 by frontman Jonny Mead (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chris Hower (guitar), Bobby Stefano (bass), and Kane McGee (drums), the band has undergone several line-up changes since its formation. The current lineup features Mead, McGee, guitarist Sean Woolstenhulme, and bassist Soloman Snyder. The band signed to RCA Records in 1997 and released their self-titled debut studio album in 2000. Led by the single "Don't Stop", the band experienced moderate success on the '' Billboard'' Modern Rock chart, where the song peaked at number 32. Radford Baseball Stadium
Williams Field at Carter Memorial Stadium is a baseball venue on the campus of Radford University in Radford, Virginia, United States. It is home to the Radford Highlanders of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. The field opened in 1986 and underwent extensive renovations in 2011. Its capacity is 800 spectators, with a grass area down the left field line allowing for overflow crowds. Other uses of the stadium include baseball camps and high school baseball tournaments. Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RFAAP) is an ammunition manufacturing complex for the U.S. military with facilities located in Pulaski and Montgomery Counties, Virginia. The primary mission of the RFAAP is to manufacture propellants and explosives in support of field artillery, air defense, tank, missile, aircraft, and naval weapons systems. As of 2011 RFAAP is operated by BAE Systems under contract to the US Army Joint Munitions Command. The current Commander for the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RAAP) is LTC Russell A. Jones.
