Radek Szagański
Radosław Szagański (born 17 October 1979) is a Polish-Irish professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. A PDC Tour Card holder since 2022, he won his first ranking title at 2023 PDC Players Championship 27. He formerly competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) and World Darts Federation (WDF) events, winning the 2011 Poznań Open. Career Szagański appeared independently from 2008 at various events, primarily in Poland and Republic of Ireland where he lives. He reached semi-finals of the Limerick Classic. His first attempt to qualify for the BDO World Darts Championship in 2010 was not crowned with success. In October 2010, he qualified for the 2010 Winmau World Masters, when he won the first round match 3–1 in sets against Chris Scutt. In the second round he lost 1–3 in sets to Andy Boulton. BDO World Darts Championship
The BDO World Darts Championship was a professional darts tournament organised by the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and held annually from 1978 to 2020. The championship was first held at the Heart of the Midlands Nightclub in the English city of Nottingham. The following year it moved to the Jollees Cabaret Club, Stoke, where it stayed until 1985. From 1986 to 2019, it was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. In 2020, the tournament was held at Indigo, part of the O2 entertainment district in London. It was the only World Darts Championship until the 1993 split in darts, when 16 players, among them seven former champions, left the BDO and set up a rival darts circuit under the auspices of the World Darts Council (later the Professional Darts Corporation). 2012 World Masters (darts)
The 2012 Winmau World Masters was a major televised tournament on the BDO/ WDF calendar for 2012. It took place from 11 to 14 October, with 11 October play at the Costello Stadium for the untelevised matches, and 12–14 October play at the Hull City Hall, which hosted the televised element of the event for the second time, taking over from the nearby Hull Arena who hosted for one year in 2011 Scott Waites and Lisa Ashton both attempted to defend their titles they won for the first time last year, however Stephen Bunting and Julie Gore took the main titles after Waites and Ashton lost their opening matches. This tournament was known for being Phill Nixon's last major tournament. Nixon died on 9 August 2013 from cancer. World Masters (darts)
The World Masters is a darts tournament, initially organised by the British Darts Organisation from 1974 and later by the World Darts Federation. It is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments. The tournament was originally sponsored by Phonogram before changing its sponsor in 1975 to darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was originally contested as the best of 5 legs (first to 3) before later transitioning to the set format. It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. Christian Kist (born 21 April 1986) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. In 2012, he won the BDO World Darts Championship, defeating Tony O'Shea in the final.
