Rackety Rax
''Rackety Rax'' is a 1932 American pre-Code comedy action film directed by Alfred L. Werker and starring Victor McLaglen, Greta Nissen and Nell O'Day. Plot Always looking for an angle, "Knucks" McGloin purchases the mortgage on Canarsie College and then turns its football team's fortunes around by hiring thugs and hooligans as players and nightclub dancers as cheerleaders. For the biggest game of the season, almost everything goes wrong. Canarsie's quarterback double-crosses his teammates and coach Brick Gilligan (a former Sing Sing inmate) by revealing the team's plays to the opponents. Guns are drawn on both sides, a bomb is tossed into the middle of a huddle and explosions destroy the cars belonging to both of the teams' owners as soon as the game ends. Mason Alan Dinehart Sr. (born Harold Alan Dinehart; October 3, 1889 – July 18, 1944) was an American actor, director, writer, and stage manager. Biography Dinehart initially studied to be a priest, but he turned to the theater instead. His first acting experience came at Missoula University in Montana. He was active in Vaudeville before moving into other areas of entertainment. He left school to appear on stage with a repertory company and had no screen experience when he signed a contract with Fox in May 1931. He became a character actor and supporting player in at least eighty-eight films between 1931 and 1944. Earlier, he appeared in more than twenty Broadway plays. Dinehart co-wrote and starred in the Broadway play ''Separate Rooms'', which opened on March 23, 1940 at the Maxine Elliott Theatre and ran for 613 performances. Arthur Pierson (June 16, 1901 – January 1, 1975) was a Norwegian-born American actor and director. Born in Oslo, he was brought to the United States and raised in Seattle, Washington. He made his Broadway acting debut in 1929 in ''Remote Control''. He continued to appear on stage throughout the 1930s, appearing in plays such as ''Night of January 16th'' (1935) and a Broadway production of '' Othello'' (1937). His last Broadway appearance was in '' The Unconquered'' in 1940. In 1932 he took up film acting as well, appearing in Lloyd Corrigan's ''No One Man''. Ivan Linow (born Jānis Linaus; November 21, 1888 – November 11, 1940), also known as Jack Linow, was a Latvian-born American wrestler, who became a character actor in American films during the silent and early sound film eras. Biography Born in Latvia on November 21, 1888, Linow began wrestling in the United States in 1918. Between 1918 and 1933, he participated in 92 matches, with a record of 38 wins and 23 losses.
