Rachel McKenna
Rachel McKenna is a fictional character from the New Zealand soap opera ''Shortland Street'', played by Angela Bloomfield and who made her first appearance in early 1993. Bloomfield left the role in late 1999, before returning in early 2001 and departing in early 2003. She returned in a guest role in mid-2007 and again in a full-time role in late 2009 before departing once again in late 2016. Arriving as part of the McKenna family unit, Rachel debuted in early 1993 alongside her mother Alex ( Liddy Holloway), the estranged wife of Clinic Director Michael McKenna (Paul Gittins). The family were later joined by Rachel's homosexual brother Jonathon ( Kieren Hutchison). Jason Daniel
Jason Daniel is an Australian writer and producer with extensive experience working in TV drama. Biography Daniel was a journalist before becoming a writer and story editor on ''Neighbours'', after which he created a number of long-running TV series around the world, including the first daily serials in New Zealand, Sweden, Finland and Hungary. In the early 1990s Daniel moved to New Zealand to set up ''Shortland Street'' as a story editor. He then worked in Europe for a number of years, creating long-running series in Germany, Sweden, Finland and Hungary - including "Worlds Apart" (Sweden), ''Salatut elämät'' (Finland), ''Between Friends'' (Hungary) and ''In Search of Paradise'' (Germany). Karl Burnett (born 27 February 1976) is a New Zealand actor best known for his portrayal of Nick Harrison on the long-running New Zealand soap opera, ''Shortland Street''. Burnett was 16 years old when offered the role of Nick Harrison on ''Shortland Street'' in 1992. The then Massey High School student had little acting experience, other than high-school drama classes, though after six years of starring on Shortland Street he had a part in the 1998 film ''When Love Comes''. He played the role of Nick Harrison from the show's second episode in 1992 until the character's departure in 2005, making Nick Harrison the original character to stay with the show the longest. Nick Harrison was originally intended as a drug-taking rebel, but after Burnett was cast, the role was developed into a more comedic and clumsy character. Michael Galvin (born 27 March 1967) is a New Zealand actor, singer and playwright, well known for his role as Chris Warner on the soap opera Shortland Street, a character he has played almost since the show's debut in 1992 until 1996 and again from 2000 to present, and remains as of 2020, the only original cast member.
