Rachel Hollivay
Rachel Hollivay (born October 24, 1993) is a former American professional basketball player. She was drafted in the second round of the 2016 WNBA draft by the Atlanta Dream and spent two years playing for them. She played college basketball at Rutgers. College career Hollivay came out of high school ranked 9th overall in the 2012 HoopGurlz Rankings. Hollivay committed to play for Rutgers and join the Scarlet Knights after averaging 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks during her junior year at Heritage Academy. During her time at Rutgers, Hollivay was known on the defensive end. She was one of the best rebounders on the team, but she became the Rutger's all-time leader in blocked shots during her senior year - finishing with 322 career blocks. Women's National Basketball Association
The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is an American professional basketball league. It is composed of twelve teams, all based in the United States. The league was founded on April 22, 1996, as the women's counterpart to the National Basketball Association (NBA), and league play started in 1997. The regular season is played from May to September, with the All Star game being played midway through the season in July (except in Olympic years) and the WNBA Finals at the end of September until the beginning of October. The 2014–15 Rutgers Scarlet Knights women's basketball team will represent Rutgers University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Scarlet Knights, led by twentieth year head coach C. Vivian Stringer, play their home games at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, better known as ''The RAC'', as first year members of the Big Ten Conference. 2017 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2017 WNBA season was the 10th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. The team began its season on May 21, 2017 against the Chicago Sky, in its new interim home of McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. The Dream had a strong start to the season posting a 4–1 record in May. However, the team finished 1–6 in June, falling under .500. The team couldn't recover its form for the rest of the season finishing a combined 7–15 in the last three months of the season. Their final record of 12–22 placed them 5th in the Eastern Conference, and failed to qualify the team for the playoffs. 2017 WNBA Season
The 2017 WNBA season was the 21st season of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Its regular season began on May 13 with three games, highlighted by the defending WNBA champion Los Angeles Sparks hosting the Seattle Storm. It concluded on September 3. The playoffs began on September 6, and concluded on October 4, with the Minnesota Lynx defeating the Sparks in five games to win their fourth WNBA title. It was the final season for the San Antonio Stars in the city that they had called home since 2003. After the season, parent company Spurs Sports & Entertainment sold the team to MGM Resorts International, which moved the team to Las Vegas.
