Rachel Abrams (athlete)
Rachel Abrams (born 13 July 1995) is a sprinter from the Northern Mariana Islands. She first competed internationally in the 60 metres at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul where set a personal best time of 8.31 seconds. Four months later she competed in the 100 metres at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics in Barcelona. Racing three days before her 17th birthday, Abrams set a new personal best of 13.05 seconds. The Micronesian Games records in athletics are set by athletes who are representing one of the 10 Micronesian Games Council member federations at the Micronesian Games. The games are quadrennial events that began in 1969. The list is compiled from the Athletics Weekly webpage courtesy of Tony Isaacs, and from the Oceania Athletics Association webpage. Dates and some relay teams were determined from the national records publication of the Oceania Athletics Association, from the Pacific Islands Athletics Statistics, from the Marshall Islands Journal, and from the 2006 and 2010 results lists. Palikir () is the capital city of the Federated States of Micronesia located in the western Pacific Ocean. A town of slightly under 5,000 residents, it is part of the larger Sokehs municipality, which had a population of 6,647 , out of the nation's total population of 106,487. It is situated on the northwest side of Pohnpei island (population 34,789), a high volcanic island surrounded by a fringing coral reef. Nearby to the northeast is the island's largest settlement, the coastal town of Kolonia. It was declared the capital of Micronesia in 1989. 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the fifteenth edition of the international indoor track and field competition, organised by the IAAF. The event was held between 7–9 March 2014 at the Ergo Arena in Sopot, Poland. Preparation Host bidding The IAAF announced on 1 September 2011 that it had received bids from Poland and Croatia to host the championships. Later Zagreb, Croatia withdrew due to lack of funding. On 11 November 2011 at a Council meeting in Monaco, the IAAF announced that Sopot, as the only remaining bidder, would host the championships. Budapest, Hungary had shown interest but eventually did not bid. Venue The Championships were held at the Ergo Arena, opened in 2010, on the border of the cities of Sopot and Gdańsk.
