Rachel is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lincoln County, Nevada, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 48. As the closest settlement to the Nellis Air Force Range and Area 51, Rachel enjoys a modest celebrity status, particularly among aviation enthusiasts and UFO hunters. Overview Rachel is over north of Las Vegas in the Great Basin Desert, along Nevada Highway 375 (the "Extraterrestrial Highway") in Nevada. The tiny town receives a substantial number of visitors and tourists, catered to by a small tourist shop, a 12-room motel, and an alien-themed restaurant and bar, the Little A'Le'Inn. Several unpaved roads near Rachel lead from Highway 375 to the boundary of Area 51. Rachel's resident population generally numbers around 50, with some of them involved in ranching. Exercise Red Flag (also Red Flag – Nellis) is a two-week advanced aerial combat training exercise held several times a year by the United States Air Force. Adaven is a former mining settlement and ghost town in Nye County, Nevada. Geography Adaven is located in the Quinn Canyon Range, located 30 miles north from Rachel. History The village was founded in the late 1890s. The post office was named Sharp from 1901 until 1939 when it was renamed Adaven ('Nevada' backwards). Quinn Canyon Range
The Quinn Canyon Range is a remote group of mountains in northeastern Nye County, and western Lincoln County in central Nevada in the western United States. Adaven is the only settlement in the mountains, now abandoned. It is closely associated with the Grant Range, which connects to it at the mountain pass of Cherry Creek Summit . Alamo is an unincorporated town in Lincoln County, Nevada, United States, about north of Las Vegas along U.S. Route 93. Its elevation is . As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,080. History A post office has been in operation at Alamo since 1905. The community was named in commemoration of the Battle of the Alamo. A large share of the first settlers were Mormons. Alamo banned alcohol sales due to the religious roots and principles of the settlers.
