RPM (band)
RPM ("Revoluções por Minuto", "Revolutions per minute", in Brazilian Portuguese) is a Brazilian pop rock band. It was formed in 1983 by singer/bassist Paulo Ricardo, keyboardist Luiz Schiavon, guitarist Fernando Deluqui and drummer Paulo Antônio "P.A." Pagni. History RPM played soft techno-pop with strong, paradoxical influences from progressive rock and European synthpop. Their lyrics were pessimistic and ironic, and full of literary allusions to the likes of Arthur Rimbaud, Surrealism and Christiane F., and political references. The band was very successful in the mid-1980s, being considered the Rolling Stones of Brazil. Their live album ''Rádio Pirata ao vivo'' was the best-selling Brazilian record ever, with more than 3 million copies sold. The group's success was not limited to CD sales. Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd Song)
"Wish You Were Here" is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd. It was released as the title track of their 1975 album of the same name. David Gilmour and Roger Waters collaborated in writing the music, with Gilmour singing lead vocals. The song is popular on classic rock radio stations. It was voted the 18th best rock song of all time by listeners of New York City’s Q104.3, and ranked No. 302 on ''Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, both in 2021. Composition In the original album version, the song segues from "Have a Cigar" as if a radio had been tuned away from one station, through several others (including a radio play and one playing the opening of the finale of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony), and finally to a new station where "Wish You Were Here" is beginning. Charles Gavin
Charles de Souza Gavin (born July 9, 1960) is a Brazilian drummer and music producer, perhaps best known for his 25-year tenure with rock band Titãs. Before Titãs, he had brief stints at Ira! and RPM. Early life and first works At age 8, his friends invited him to participate on the September 7 ( Brazil's Independence Day) festival. The problem was the absence of decent percussion instruments. So, the school decided to improvise these with kitchen utensils. But there was still an instrument remaining, which would be quite difficult for a not so skillful drummer to play. Gavin, who was already used to beat the table at school, was chosen for the job. The band, commanded by Gavin, won the originality prize. In 1975, at the year of 15, living in Jabaquara, Gavin joined ten neighbors, and during the weeks that preceded the Carnaval, they promoted noisy beats around the streets. Paulo Ricardo Oliveira Nery de Medeiros (born 23 September 1962), better known as Paulo Ricardo, is a Brazilian rock singer, songwriter, composer, musician, record producer and occasional actor. Early life In his childhood he listened to Nat King Cole and the collections of the famous Big Bands from Toquinho, Vinícius de Morais and Maria Creuza. He joined the band Prisma in the late 1970s and also founded the band Aura in the early 1980s. He rode with a keyboard player Luiz Schiavon, formed Aura, without expressive results. Career Early 1983 with Schiavon, he formed the band RPM together with guitarist Fernando Deluqui and drummer Moreno Junior, subsequently replaced by Paulo P. A. Pagni. The album Revoluções por Minuto, was recorded in 1983. The album sold more than 600 thousand copies. Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition in which the lungs become scarred over time. Symptoms include shortness of breath, a dry cough, feeling tired, weight loss, and nail clubbing. Complications may include pulmonary hypertension, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and lung cancer. Causes include environmental pollution, certain medications, connective tissue diseases, infections, and interstitial lung diseases. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), an interstitial lung disease of unknown cause, is most common. Diagnosis may be based on symptoms, medical imaging, lung biopsy, and lung function tests. There is no cure and there are limited treatment options available. Treatment is directed towards efforts to improve symptoms and may include oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation.
