Rooms-Katholieke Aloysius Voetbalvereniging, known as RKAVV, is a football club based in Leidschendam, Netherlands. Currently member of the Vierde Divisie, the fifth tier of the Dutch football league system, it plays home matches at Kastelenring. The club's colours are red and white. 2022–23 Vierde Divisie
The 2022–23 Vierde Divisie is a Dutch football league season played in four sections, two on Saturday and two on Sunday. The champions of each Vierde Divisie section will be directly promoted to the Derde Divisie; other teams can get promoted through play-offs. Play-offs Promotion In each competition teams play periods of 10 games, three times per season (30 games per season). After each period the best team which has not yet qualified earns a spot in the play-offs for the Derde Divisie as the period champion. 6 teams from the Saturday Vierde Divisie play against 2 teams from the Saturday Derde Divisie for 2 promotion spots. The teams from the Sunday leagues do the same. Relegation The teams in place 13 and 14 at the end of the season fight against relegation in the relegation play-offs. Edwin Vurens
Edwin Vurens (born 6 June 1968) is a Dutch football manager who coaches Dutch amateur side Docos. Vurens is a former international player who played professionally as a striker for clubs in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Football career Playing Born in Stompwijk, Vurens played amateur football with Stompwijkse Boys and RKAVV, before signing a professional contract with Sparta Rotterdam. Vurens later played for FC Twente and Roda JC, before playing in Switzerland for FC St. Gallen and Servette FC. Vurens made one international appearance for the Netherlands national football team in 1995. Leidschendam
Leidschendam () is a town and former municipality in the province of South Holland of the Netherlands. Along with Voorburg and Stompwijk, it is part of the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. History The town's name has been in use for centuries and refers to the lock in the Vliet, near the historic city of Leiden. The settlement on the northern side of the lock was known as 'Veur', until the formation of the municipality of Leidschendam in 1938. Vierde Divisie
The Vierde Divisie, formerly known as Hoofdklasse () is the second-highest league of amateur football in the Netherlands, and the fifth tier in general. Background The league is divided into two sections: Saturday and Sunday. This is a result of the traditional pillarisation ( nl, verzuiling), the segregation of Dutch society. The ''Saturday'' clubs are mainly Protestant Christian clubs, who were not allowed to play on Sunday. The ''Sunday'' clubs were in general Catholic and working class clubs, whose players had to work on Saturday and therefore could only play on Sunday. Although the pillarisation ended in the 1960s and 1970s, the clubs and the league have maintained this division. Dutch Football League System
The Dutch football league system consists of two fully professional leagues (Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie) and eight levels of amateur football leagues, the highest of which is called Tweede Divisie, formerly Topklasse. All the leagues are connected by a promotion and relegation system, but in order to be promoted to the Eerste Divisie a club has to submit a solid business plan to be approved by the Royal Dutch Football Association, as well as meet certain stadium demands, and some other demands that the association stated for all the teams in the top two leagues.
