''Rec 2'' (stylized as '' €¢REC²'') is a 2009 Spanish found footage horror film sequel to 2007's ''Rec'' and the second installment of the ''Rec'' film series. The film was written and directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, both of whom returned from the previous film. The story takes place immediately after the events of the first film and follows a team of soldiers assigned to protect a scientist supposedly sent to investigate the cause of the outbreak, but who may already know more about it than he claims. Several actors from the first film reprise their roles, mostly briefly appearing as infected versions of their characters. The film was followed by '' Rec 3: Genesis''. Jaume Balagueró
Jaume Balagueró Bernat (; born 2 November 1968) is a Spanish film director widely known for his horror films, most notably the acclaimed ''REC'' series. Early life Balagueró was born in Lleida, Spain, and grew up in Barcelona. He studied communications and photography at the University of Barcelona, graduating in 1991 with a degree in communication sciences. In 1992, Balagueró began work as a film journalist and radio host with the show “''La espuma de los dÃas''†on Radio Hospitalet. Career Balagueró began his filmmaking career with the short video projects ''El niño bubónico'' (1991) and ''La invención de la leche'' (1993). In 1994, Balagueró graduated to shooting on 35mm with the short film ''Alicia'' (1994). The film won the prize for Best Short film at the Sitges Film Festival. Portage Theater
Located at Six Corners in the Portage Park neighborhood of Chicago's Northwest Side, the Portage Theater is one of the oldest movie houses in Chicago. The Portage Theater opened on December 11, 1920 as the Portage Park Theatre (the former name is still visible on the building's facade). Built for the Ascher Brothers circuit with 1,938 seats, the Portage was the first theater built specifically for film (and not vaudeville) in the area. The Portage Theater's interior features a megaphone-shaped auditorium based on a formal Beaux-Arts opera house design.
