''Recoil'' is a magazine covering handguns, tactical rifles, tactical knife, tactical knives and other shooting-related activities in the United States. It caters to the firearms lifestyle. The magazine primarily offers reviews on firearms, ammunition, knives, and shooting gear; as well as gunsmithing tips, historical articles, gun collecting, self-defense and automobiles. Each issue contains a few featured articles and personality profiles of people in the firearms industry as well as press releases of new products. Each issue includes a fold-out target. Iain Harrison
Iain Harrison is a competitive shooter and former British Army Captain. He is known for being the winner of the Top Shot (season 1), first season of History (U.S. TV channel), History Channel's marksmen competition ''Top Shot'' and the current editor of ''RECOIL (gun magazine), RECOIL''. Biography Harrison was born in the United Kingdom. He served as a recce platoon commander for the British Army. He moved to the United States and started working as a construction manager in Sherwood, Oregon after being forced to surrender his guns to the UK government, while pursuing competitive shooting. In 2009, Harrison finished second in Trooper Class in the 2009 MGM Ironman multi-gun competition. Being an amateur gunsmith, the guns he used during the competition were made by himself. Harrison worked for Crimson Trace at this time. In December 2011, Harrison gained US citizenship. A gunsmith is a person who repairs, modifies, designs, or builds guns. The occupation differs from an armorer, who usually replaces only worn parts in standard firearms. Gunsmiths do modifications and changes to a firearm that may require a very high level of craftsmanship, requiring the skills of a top-level machinist, a very skilled woodworker, and even an engineer. Gunsmiths perform factory-level repairs and renovations to restore a well-used or deteriorated firearms to new condition.
