Racing Club Épernay Champagne is a French association football, football Football club, club based in the commune of Épernay. The club plays in Régional 1, the sixth tier of French football, after relegation in the 2022–23 Championnat National 3 season. Its kit colours are white and sky blue. It plays its home matches at the Stade Paul Chandon in Épernay. History The club was founded in 1906. It played four seasons at the third level of French football in 1970, 1972 and 1975. Since then it has promoted five times as champions from the Division d'Honneur Nord-Est et Champagne-Ardenne (or, most recently, Grand Est), each time enjoying a number of seasons at tier four or five in the national pyramid before being relegated back to the regional division again. Épernay
Épernay () is a commune in the Marne department of northern France, 130 km north-east of Paris on the mainline railway to Strasbourg. The town sits on the left bank of the Marne at the extremity of the Cubry valley which crosses it. Épernay is a sub-prefecture of the department and seat of an arrondissement. History Épernay () belonged to the archbishops of Reims from the 5th until the 10th century, when it came into the possession of the counts of Champagne. It was badly damaged during the Hundred Years' War, and was burned by Francis I in 1544. It resisted Henry of Navarre in 1592, and Marshal Biron fell in the attack which preceded its eventual capture. The 2022-23 Championnat National 3 is the sixth season of the fifth tier in the French football league system in its current format. The competition is contested by 168 clubs split geographically across 12 groups of 14 teams. The teams include amateur clubs (although a few are semi-professional) and the reserve teams of professional clubs. The competition starts on 28 August 2022 and is scheduled to end on 4 June 2023. Stade (), officially the Hanseatic City of Stade (german: Hansestadt Stade, nds, Hansestadt Stood) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany.
