RC Vannes (french: Rugby Club Vannes) is a French rugby union club based in Vannes currently competing in Pro D2. Founded in , they play in the Stade de la Rabine and traditionally wear blue and white jerseys. The team usually competed in the third tier of French rugby, Fédérale 1. During the 2015–16 season, they beat RC Massy during the Fédérale 1 promotion semi-finals automatically accessing to the 2016–17 Pro D2, an historical reach for a Breton rugby team. Vannes (; br, Gwened) is a commune in the Morbihan department in Brittany in north-western France. It was founded over 2,000 years ago. History Celtic Era The name ''Vannes'' comes from the Veneti, a seafaring Celtic people who lived in the south-western part of Armorica in Gaul before the Roman invasions. The region seems to have been involved in a cross channel trade for thousands of years, probably using hide boats and perhaps Ferriby Boats. Myles Edwards (born 19 May 1997) is an English rugby union player who players for Toshiba Brave Lupus in the Top League. A late starter, he only began playing rugby at the age of sixteen. He joined the Worcester Warriors AASE development programme, combining rugby with studying at Worcester Sixth Form College. Tiko, originally called ‘Keka’ by the Bakweris, is a town and important port in the southwest region of Cameroon. Phil Kite (born 26 October 1962) is a former football goalkeeper, goalkeeping coach and physiotherapist. He retired in 2015 from his role as physio at Bristol Rovers, the club he supported as a boy. Playing career Born in Bristol, England, Kite joined Bristol Rovers as an apprentice goalkeeper in 1979, and signed his first professional contract on his 18th birthday in October 1980. After making 96 league appearances for Rovers, he moved on to Southampton. He went on to make league appearances for thirteen different clubs, but missed a large amount of playing time through injury, and only a two-year spell at Gillingham saw him play regularly as an established first-choice keeper.
