Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol Hoquei was a Spanish roller hockey club from Barcelona, Catalonia. Established in 1942 and folded in 1972. History Founded in 1942, until its dissolution in 1972, Espanyol was one of the main teams in the Catalan and Spanish roller hockey. Before the creation of the Spanish League, the club was the great dominator of the Catalan League, with 15 titles won and also eleven National Cups. Refoundation In March 2017, the Association of Supporters and Shareholders of RCD Espanyol boosted a project for recovering the sporting sections of the club, but this time without any economic link with the football team. Roller Hockey (quad)
Roller hockey (in British English), rink hockey (in American English) or quad hockey is a team sport played on roller skates. It is the only quad skate team sport in existence where two teams face-off against one another at the same time. Two teams try to drive a hard ball with their sticks into the opposing teams' goalnet. Each team has five players on the rink at a time, four of whom are skaters and one who is the goalkeeper. The ball can only be put in motion by a stick, not the skate, otherwise a foul will be stated. The game has two 25-minute halves, with 15-minute halftime intermission, plus up to two 5-minute golden goal (a.k.a. "sudden death") periods to settle ties with the clock stopping when the ball becomes dead. If the tie persists, a penalty shootout will determine the winner. OK Liga
The OK Liga is the Spanish rink hockey league. History The league was founded in 1969 as División de Honor as an expansion to all the Spanish territory of the Catalan Championship. Until 1971 teams from outside Catalonia did not join the competition. The league changed its name to OK Liga in 2003 and in 2009 the playoffs for the title, that were established in the 2000–01 season, were abolished while several rules from other sports were approved. In April 2017, a new name change for the 2017–18 season was approved and the top tier would be renamed as the OK Liga Oro while the second tier as ''OK Liga Plata''. Also, a new national third tier competition ''OK Liga Bronce'' (with four interregional groups) was foreseen, but due to the lack of interested teams, it wasn't created and the third tier remained at regional level. Copa Del Rey De Hockey Patines
The Copa del Rey de Hockey Patines is an annual Spanish rink hockey competition which is contested by eight teams. It held every year at a neutral venue. The first eight teams in standings just to half-season take part in Copa del Rey. The Copa del Rey's winners play in the next edition of CERS Cup. Competition format Since 1999, the competition is played with a ''Final Eight'' format. At the end of the first half of the regular season, the top seven teams from the Spanish League and the host one, if it is not between these teams, qualify for the tournament. The eight teams play a play-off at one venue, over four days, eventually producing a winner.
