R708 Road (South Africa)
The R708 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Jan Kempdorp in the Northern Cape with Clocolan in the Free State via Christiana, Hertzogville, Bultfontein, Theunissen, Winburg and Marquard. Route North West Its north-western terminus is the N18 at Jan Kempdorp, Northern Cape. It heads eastwards, immediately crossing into the North West, to meet the R506 at Christiana. From that intersection, it flies over the N12, and becomes Voortrekker Street in the town centre and leaves to the south-east, crossing the Vaal River to enter the Free State. Jan Kempdorp
Jan Kempdorp is an agricultural town situated in the centre of the Vaalharts Irrigation Scheme in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. It is situated north of Kimberley, the provincial capital, and west of Christiana in North West province. History Jan Kempdorp was laid out on the farm Andalusia and at first bore that name. During the Second World War it was the site of a concentration camp housing German men regarded as potentially dangerous by the authorities. The first settlers bought plots in 1938, and the town was proclaimed in 1953 and named after General Jan Kemp, a former Minister of Lands. Municipal status was attained in 1967. Originally, the border between the Cape and Transvaal provinces ran through the town, making it the only town in South Africa that was in two provinces. The R26 is a provincial route in Free State, South Africa that connects Zastron with Villiers via Bethlehem. Route The R26 begins in the town of Rouxville, at a t-junction with the N6 National Route. It begins by going north-east for 30 kilometres to meet the north-western terminus of the R726 Road and bypass the town of Zastron. From Zastron, the R26 goes northwards for 65 kilometres, following the borderline with Lesotho, through Van Stadensrus, to the town of Wepener near the Van Rooyen's Gate border with Lesotho, where it meets the R702 Road. The R702 & R26 become one road for a few kilometres westwards. Just after crossing the Caledon River, at the northern terminus of the R701 Road (a four-way junction), the R702 remains on the road westwards while the R26 turns northwards. R703 Road (South Africa)
The R703 is a Regional Route in South Africa. Route Its western terminus is the R64 just east of Dealesville. From there, it heads east to the town of Soutpan. Just outside Soutpan, it crosses the R700 at a staggered intersection. Continuing east, it reaches Brandfort, where it crosses the R30. From Brandfort, the route initially heads east, reaching a t-junction. The R703 continues along the intersecting road, heading south-east, while the other road is unsigned and heads to Winburg. The south-eastern R703 crosses the N1 to reach Verkeerdevlei. Leaving the town, it maintains its direction coming to Excelsior. Here it forms a staggered intersection with the R709 and leaves the town heading east. The R707 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Frankfort with Marquard via Petrus Steyn, Lindley, Arlington and Senekal. Route Its north-eastern terminus is a junction with the R34 just west of Frankfort. From there, it runs south-west for 55 kilometres to the town of Petrus Steyn, where it meets the R57 east of the town centre. The R707 and R57 are co-signed southwards for 2 kilometres before the R707 becomes its own road to the south-west. Just after splitting from the R57, the R707 meets the northern terminus of the R724 Road. It continues south-west for 30 kilometres to meet the southern terminus of the R725 Road and enter the town of Lindley. The N5 is a national route in South Africa that connects the N1 at Winburg with the N3 at Harrismith, via Senekal, Paul Roux and Bethlehem. It forms part of the main route between Durban and Bloemfontein as well as the quickest route between Durban and Cape Town, as it connects the N3 towards Durban at Harrismith and the N1 towards Bloemfontein at Winburg. Route The N5 begins in Winburg, at an interchange with the N1 north-west of the town centre. It is initially co-signed with the R708 eastwards, bypassing Winburg to the north (where the R709 provides access to the town centre). After 9 kilometres, the R708 becomes its own road south-east towards Marquard, leaving the N5 as the easterly road. The N1 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Cape Town through Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Polokwane to Beit Bridge on the border with Zimbabwe. It forms the first section of the famed Cape to Cairo Road. Prior to 1970, the N1 designation was applied to the route from Beit Bridge to Colesberg and then along the current N9 to George. Route The R700's northern terminus is a junction with the R59 route at Hoopstad (just south of the R59's Vet River Bridge; which provides access to the town centre). It begins by running south-south-east for 53 kilometres to the town of Bultfontein, where it meets the south-western terminus of the R710 route and continues southwards via a right turn. The R59 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Hertzogville with Alberton (south-east of Johannesburg) via Bothaville, Parys and Vereeniging. The R59 is a freeway from the R57 Junction in Sasolburg until the Alberton N12 Reading Interchange, signposted as the Sybrand van Niekerk Freeway. Route Free State The R59 begins at a t-junction with the R64 about 18 kilometres west of Dealesville. Vaal River
The Vaal River ( ; Khoemana: ) is the largest tributary of the Orange River in South Africa. The river has its source near Breyten in Mpumalanga province, east of Johannesburg and about north of Ermelo and only about from the Indian Ocean. It then flows westwards to its conjunction with the Orange River southwest of Kimberley in the Northern Cape.
