R595 Road (Ireland)
The R595 road is a regional road in Ireland. It is a road on the Haven Coast in west County Cork. The road forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way. The R595 travels southwest from the N71 at Skibbereen along the estuary of the River Ilen. It ends at the port village of Baltimore, where ferries depart for Sherkin Island and Cape Clear Island. N71 Road (Ireland)
The N71 road is a national secondary road traversing counties Cork and Kerry in Ireland. Towns and villages along the route, westward from Cork city, include Innishannon, Bandon, Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry and Glengarriff in County Cork. Continuing westwards from Glengarriff into County Kerry, the route passes Kenmare and terminates at Killarney. Road standard The road is mostly single carriageway, with wider sections towards the Cork end of the route. There are wide sections with climbing/passing lanes, including a rare configuration with a passing lane on both sides, and a dual carriageway section approaching Cork. The River Ilen () is a river in West Cork, Ireland. It rises at Mullaghmesha mountain and flows southwards for 37 kilometres into the Celtic Sea. Sherkin Island
Sherkin Island, historically called Inisherkin (), lies southwest of County Cork in Ireland alongside other islands of Roaringwater Bay. It had a population of 111 people at the time of the 2016 Census, and measures long by wide. The island has two pubs, a hotel, a bed and breakfast, a community centre, a coffee shop, and a Roman Catholic church. Climate Sherkin is one of the most southerly points of Ireland after the Fastnet Rock, Cape Clear, and Brow Head. It is said that when the frost covers the lawns of Baltimore just across the bay, the grass remains unfrosted on the island.
