The R52 is a provincial route in North West, South Africa that connects Biesiesvlei with Rustenburg via Lichtenburg and Koster. Route The R52 begins in Biesiesvlei (20 kilometres north-east of Sannieshof), at a junction with the N14 National Route. It begins by going north-east for 36 kilometres, through Itekeng, to the town of Lichtenburg. It reaches a junction with the R503 Route and the R505 Route (Nelson Mandela Drive). All 3 routes form one road northwards through the Lichtenburg CBD as Nelson Mandela Drive up to the junction with Gerrit Maritz Street, where the R52 splits from the R503/R505 to become Gerrit Maritz Street eastwards. The R503 is a Regional Route in North West, South Africa that connects Mahikeng with Klerksdorp via Lichtenburg and Coligny. Route The R503 begins in the town of Mahikeng, the capital of the North West, at a four-way-junction with the N18 National Route and the R49 Route. It goes south-east for 62 kilometres, forming the southern border of the Mafikeng Game Reserve, bypassing Itsoseng, to the town of Lichtenburg, where it enters in an easterly direction and meets the R505 Route. The R505 joins the R503 and they are one road eastwards into the town centre as Swart Street, then southwards as Nelson Mandela Drive, to meet the R52 Route at the junction with Gerrit Maritz Street. Platinum Highway
The Platinum Highway is part of the N4, and a major South African highway built under concessions with a private contractor. In 2001, the project was voted Infrastructure Deal of the Year by Project Finance International Magazine. It took eight years to complete. The highway is part of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which links four African countries (Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana and Namibia) and two oceans (the Indian and Atlantic). The contract had tougher concession terms than were seen in previous contracts. The ''Platinum Highway'' is the section of the N4 from the Skilpadshek Border with Botswana, through Zeerust, Swartruggens, Rustenburg and Brits, to the interchange with the N1 in Pretoria (Tshwane). The concessionaire responsible for this road is Bakwena and the entire route is a toll road. N4 (South Africa)
The N4 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Skilpadshek on the Botswana border, past Rustenburg, Pretoria, eMalahleni and Mbombela, to Komatipoort on the Mozambique border. It forms the South African section of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which runs from Walvis Bay to Maputo, meaning that it links the east and west coasts of Southern Africa. Since the completion of the A2 through Botswana, the entire Corridor is now a world-class standard highway; it features at least one carriageway in each direction of high-speed traffic plus a paved shoulder for its entire length. The South African section can be divided into two parts with Pretoria in the middle. Route The R509 begins at a t-junction with the N4 (Platinum Highway) in the town of Swartruggens, North West (east of the town centre). Route The R53 begins in Swartruggens, North West province, at a junction with the N4 National Route (Platinum Highway). It begins by going southwards for 45 kilometres to reach a junction with the R52 Road, which goes to Koster in the east and Lichtenburg in the west. From the R52 junction, the R53 continues south-south-east for 42 kilometres to reach a t-junction with the R30 Road in the town of Ventersdorp. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. The N14 is a national route in South Africa which runs from Springbok in the Northern Cape to Pretoria in Gauteng. It passes through Upington, Kuruman, Vryburg, Krugersdorp and Centurion. The section between Pretoria and Krugersdorp is maintained by the Gauteng Provincial government and is also designated the P158, and is also a 4-lane dual carriageway with 2 lanes in each direction. Sannieshof
Sannieshof is a small farming town situated in North West Province of South Africa. It started as a post office to serve the farms in the district and was named in honour of the first postmaster, John Voorendijk's wife Sannie. The village is 40 km north-east of Delareyville and 38 km north-west of Ottosdal. It is also close (20 km) to Baberspan which is a water bird sanctuary and a fishing mecca. History The name was bestowed by John Voorendijk in 1920 who was postmaster of Lichtenburg, in honour of his wife Sannie (née De Beer), whom he married in 1904. In 1928, land was sold to form a village that was named Roosville after a local politician Tielman Roos. The name was disliked and the town regained its original name in 1952.
