Kuruman
Kuruman is a small town with just over 53,000 inhabitants in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. It is known for its scenic beauty and the Eye of Kuruman, a geological feature that brings water from deep underground. The abundance of water produces an unexpected swathe of green amidst the barren plains and is known as the Oasis of the Kalahari. It was at first a mission station of the London Missionary Society founded by Robert Moffat in 1821. It was also the place where David Livingstone arrived for his first position as a missionary in 1841. Reivilo
Reivilo is a town situated 100 km southwest of Vryburg on the Ghaap Plateau in North West Province of South Africa. Large scale lead and zinc mining took place in the district. History The town was established in 1883 and at first named ''Cathcart West'' (to distinguish it from Cathcart, Eastern Cape). The name was then changed in 1890 to ''Klein Boetsap'', and then finally it was renamed after Rev AJ Olivier (''Olivier'' reversed is ''Reivilo''). Economy Reivilo is a traditional farming communinity. The main farming business is cattle, this is dictated by the geology of the area, because there is not enough arable soil for agriculture. Bedrock exists right to the ground surface, being an ancient and hard dolomite, with extraordinary stromatolitic features, representing life forms more than 2 billion years old. The R31 is a provincial route in the Northern Cape of South Africa that connects Kimberley with the Namibian border at Rietfontein via Kuruman and Hotazel. It is co-signed with the R360 between Askham and Andriesvale. Some sections of this road are gravel road. Route The R31 begins in Kimberley (Capital of the Northern Cape), south-west of the city centre, at an intersection with the N12 National Route. It begins by going north-north-west through the western area of Kimberley, meeting the R357 road at the next junction and the N8 National Route at the following junction. The R371 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Windsorton with the N14 to Kuruman and Vryburg. Route Its northern terminus at the N14 is in North West. It heads south to Reivilo. Here it meets the R372 from the east. The two continue south out of the town. After eight kilometres, the latter heads west again.
