R30 Live In Frankfurt
''R30: 30th Anniversary World Tour'' is a live DVD by the Canadian rock band Rush, released on November 22, 2005 in Canada and the US, and November 28, 2005 in Europe. The DVD documents the band's R30: 30th Anniversary Tour, and was recorded on September 24, 2004 at the Festhalle Frankfurt, Germany. The DVD was released in both a standard and a deluxe set. The deluxe version features two additional audio CDs of the DVD content, as well as various interviews, and extra live footage. To reduce overlap with the band's 2003 release '' Rush in Rio'', eight songs were cut from both DVD versions: "Bravado", " One Little Victory", "By-Tor and the Snow Dog", " La Villa Strangiato", " YYZ", " Red Sector A", " The Trees", and " Secret Touch". The audio CDs in the deluxe DVD version present the shortened set-list as well. Rush (band)
Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in 1968 in Toronto, that was comprised primarily of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar), and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). The band formed in Toronto in 1968 by Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey, and bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Jones, who was immediately replaced by Lee. After Lee joined, the band went through several lineup configurations before arriving at its classic power trio lineup with the addition of Peart in July 1974, who replaced Rutsey four months after the release of their 1974 self-titled debut album; this lineup remained intact for the remainder of the band's career. ''Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage'' is a 2010 documentary film directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn. The film offers an in-depth look at the Canadian hard rock band Rush, chronicling the band's history and musical evolution. "The Trees" is a song by Canadian rock band Rush, from its 1978 album '' Hemispheres''. The song is also featured on many of Rush's compilation albums, and was long a staple of the band's live performances. Red Sector A
"Red Sector A" is a song by Rush that provides a first-person account of a nameless protagonist living in an unspecified prison camp setting. "Red Sector A" first appeared on the band's 1984 album '' Grace Under Pressure''. Lyricist Neil Peart has stated that the detailed imagery in the song intentionally evokes concentration camps of the Holocaust, although he left the lyrics ambiguous enough that they could deal with any similar prison camp scenario. The song was inspired in part by Geddy Lee's mother's accounts of the Holocaust. "YYZ" is an instrumental rock composition by the band Rush from their 1981 album '' Moving Pictures''. It is one of the band's most popular pieces and was a staple of the band's live performances. The live album '' Exit... Stage Left'' (1981) and the concert video recording '' A Show of Hands'' (1989) both include versions in which Neil Peart incorporates a drum soloas an interlude on the former, and as a segue out of the piece on the latter. Title and composition YYZ is the IATA airport identification code of Toronto Pearson International Airport, near Rush's hometown. La Villa Strangiato
The Canadian rock band Rush has written, recorded, and performed several instrumentals throughout its career. Studio recordings La Villa Strangiato "La Villa Strangiato" was released on the 1978 album ''Hemispheres'', and is subtitled "An Exercise in Self-Indulgence". The 9:37 song, the fourth and final track of the album, was Rush's first entirely instrumental piece. The multi-part piece was inspired by a dream guitarist Alex Lifeson had, and the music in these sections correspond to the occurrences in his dream. The opening segment was played on a nylon-string classical guitar. The next segment introduces the main theme of La Villa, the Strangiato theme. The song progresses to include an increasingly complex guitar solo backed by string synthesizer, followed closely by bass and drum fills.
