Termonfeckin
Termonfeckin or Termonfechin () is a small village and townland in County Louth, Ireland. It is within a civil parish of the same name, and is north-east of Drogheda. The population of the village almost quadrupled in the period between the 1996 and 2022 census, growing from 530 to 1,983 inhabitants. History Tradition suggests that a medieval monastery was founded in the village by Saint Feichin of Fore in the 7th century. The monastic settlement was plundered by Vikings in 1013 and by the clan Ui-Crichan of Farney in 1025. The monastery was plundered again a century later (in 1149) by raiders from Bregia (Meath). The village gained ecclesiastical importance in the late 12th century when an Augustinian monastery was founded in the village. A convent of nuns, also of the Augustinian order, was established shortly afterwards and while the monastery didn't survive, the convent flourished in Termonfeckin up until its eventual closure in 1540, following the Reformation of Henry VII ... Drogheda ( , ; , meaning "bridge at the ford") is an industrial and port town in County Louth on the east coast of Ireland, north of Dublin. It is located on the Dublin–Belfast corridor on the east coast of Ireland, mostly in County Louth but with the south fringes of the town in County Meath, north of Dublin. Drogheda has a population of approximately 41,000 inhabitants (2016), making it the List of settlements on the island of Ireland by population, eleventh largest settlement by population in all of Ireland, and the largest town in the Republic of Ireland by both population and area. It is the last bridging point on the River Boyne before it enters the Irish Sea. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Newgrange is located west of the town. The R150 road is a regional road in Ireland. It runs from Drogheda to the Meath coast and back inland across east County Meath. The R150 travels east from the Drogheda's Bull Ring to the Meath coastal towns of Bettystown and Laytown, via Mornington. From Laytown the road turns west to Julianstown and crosses the M1 (no junction) en route to Duleek. The Julianstown–Duleek section underwent a major €20 million improvement project from October 2006 to September 2008, a year longer than scheduled. The R150 intersects with the N2 at Flemingstown before ending at the R153 at Kentstown. The R150 is long. The R132 road is one of Ireland's newest regional roads, having been classified following the opening M1 motorway which by-passes most of the old N1 route. The R132 is long. By-passed sections of the old N1 were reclassified R132. The route has a highly varying road quality, with some sections of dual carriageway such as the original Swords Bypass, and the original run-in to the M1 Balbriggan Bypass; much wide standard two-lane road, and some very poor segments. Some sections, such as that through Drogheda, are still signed "N1" though the town was bypassed in 2003.
