R. Sudarsanam
Ramakrishna Sudarsanam (26 April 1914 – 26 March 1991) was an Indian music composer who had worked in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada Malayalam, Telugu and Sinhala film industry Career Ramakrishna Sudarsanam entered the Tamil film industry with Thiruneelakandar in 1939. He was a very talented musician who was spotted by Music Director Sharma Brothers and who into their Music troupe. After getting a lot of experience, he started composing music along with T.A Kalyanam. He became full-fledged music composer in Movie Sakuntalai in 1940. He turned a few songs for this movie but unfortunately, he did not continue with that film due to ill health. Movie producers brought another music composer Rajagopal Sharma for the same film and used already composed Sudarsanam's tunes, but he was not credited. Tamil cinema, also known as Kollywood is a part of Indian Cinema; primarily engaged in production of motion pictures in the Tamil language. Based out of the Kodambakkam neighbourhood in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, it is popularly called ''Kollywood'' - a portmanteau of the words Kodambakkam and Hollywood. The first Tamil silent film, ''Keechaka Vadham'', was directed by R. Nataraja Mudaliar in 1918. The first Tamil talking feature film, ''Kalidas'', a multilingual directed by H M Reddy was released on 31 October 1931, less than seven months after India's first talking motion picture ''Alam Ara''. Vaazhkai (1949 Film)
''Vaazhkai'' () is a 1949 Indian Tamil-language social guidance film produced and directed by A. V. Meiyappan through AVM Productions. It stars Vyjayanthimala in her screen debut with M. S. Draupadi, T. R. Ramachandran and S. V. Sahasranamam forms an ensemble cast along with many actors appearing in other significant roles. Upon its release, the film was well received and it won the Best Tamil Film Award at the 1st Film Fans' Association Awards. Vyjayanthimala and M. S. Draupadi received the Second Best Tamil Actress and Third Best Tamil Actress Awards respectively. It also broke some box office records in South India. A year later, the film was re-released in a new copy with selected song sequences in hand-tinted colour. The film was simultaneously released in Telugu as ''Jeevitham'' (1950)''.'' ''Bahar'' () is a 1951 Hindi Black-and-white social guidance film written and directed by M. V. Raman. It was a remake of the 1949 South Indian film ''Vazhkai''. ''Jeevitham'' ( en, Life) is a 1950 Indian Telugu-language social guidance film produced by A. V. Meiyappan with his company AVM Productions and directed by M. V. Raman. The film stars Vyjayanthimala in her Telugu cinema debut with S. Varalakshmi, T. R. Ramachandran and C. H. Narayana Rao forming an ensemble cast, with many actors appearing in other significant roles. Actresses Lalitha and Padmini made guest appearances as stage dancers. The film was a remake of the 1949 Tamil film '' Vazhkai'', which was also produced and directed by A.V. Meiyappan with Vyjayanthimala in the lead. AVM Productions is an Indian film production studio founded by A. V. Meiyappan. It is the final oldest survived studio in India. The filming studios are located in Vadapalani, Chennai. It has produced over 300 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. ''Satya Harishchandra'' is a 1943 Indian Kannada-language film directed by R. Nagendra Rao. It stars Subbaiah Naidu, Lakshmibai and Rao. The music of the film was composed by R. Sudarshanam. The film was successful at the box office and ran for 100 days in Dharwad. The movie was dubbed in Tamil making it the first Kannada movie to be dubbed in other language.
