R.M.Barker
Robyn M. Barker (born 1948) is an Honorary Research Associate of the South Australian Herbarium. She now works part-time, her duties include maintenance of the Vascular Plant Census for the State. Barker's research interests also include systematics and several plant genera. She is a life member of the Australian Systematic Botany Society. Hakea Bicornata
''Hakea bicornata'' is a shrub in the family Proteaceae native to Western Australia, with attractive creamy-white flowers and fruit with two distinctive horns. Description ''Hakea bicornata'' is a lignotuberous, multiple stemmed shrub high. The many smaller branches are rusty coloured and covered with small hairs. The simple rust coloured leaves grow alternately along the stem; they are long and wide, ending in a point long. The young leaves are densely covered in matted silky hairs but become smooth as they mature. It produces cream-white to yellow flowers from April to May and occasionally August. Each inflorescence is composed of eight cream-white to yellow flowers on an obscure stem. The perianth is cream-white about long. The pistil is about long with an oblique conical pollen presenter. Hakea Pendens
''Hakea pendens'' is a flowering plant in the family ''Proteaceae'' and endemic to a small area in the Goldfields-Esperance regions of Western Australia. It is a small shrub with needle-like leaves and pendulous pink flowers. Description ''Hakea pendens'' typically grows to high and wide. The branchlets are densely covered in silky, flattened hairs until flowering and then the surface becoming whitish and waxy. The terete, dark green leaves are long and about wide, crowded, stiff, and densely covered with silky, rusty coloured, flattened hairs, ending with a sharp point long. The inflorescence is a cluster of 6-8 pale pink pendulous flowers borne in leaf axils. Flowering occurs from August to September and the fruit is obovate, smooth, grey, sometimes with darker grey speckling and about long and wide. Hakea Horrida
''Hakea horrida'' is a shrub in the family '' Proteacea'' and is endemic to an area in the Wheatbelt, Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance regions of Western Australia. It is a small dense shrub, extremely prickly with large creamy white scented flowers. Description The intricately branched spreading shrub typically grows to a height of . A very dense and impenetrable species due to its extremely prickly foliage. The leaves are rigid, long, prominently grooved and narrow with 5-7 sharply toothed lobes. It blooms from August to October and produces large scented white to cream flowers in clusters in the leaf axils. They may appear in a raceme of up 22 flowers. State Herbarium Of South Australia
The State Herbarium of South Australia, sometimes called the South Australian Herbarium, and having the herbarium code, AD, is located in Adelaide, South Australia. It is one of several State and Commonwealth herbaria in Australia. The Department for Environment and Water is the state agency which is responsible for the Herbarium, but the Board of the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium (established by an Act of Parliament, most recently the ''Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium Act 1978'') is charged with its establishment and maintenance. Hakea Oligoneura
''Hakea oligoneura'' is a small rare shrub known from only a few populations south of Perth, Western Australia growing exclusively on coastal limestone ridges. It has cream-white flowers and stiff, thick yellow-greenish leaves. Description A small shrub high and up to wide with smooth bark or fine cracks at maturity. Smaller branches are cylindrical with dense white or rusty coloured hairs long and pressed against the stem becoming glabrous as they mature. Flat or rarely slightly inward curving leaves grow alternately along the stem. Narrowly lance-shaped, broader above the middle long and wide. The leaves are thin and stiff, with toothed thorny margins on the edges with 1-4 longitudinal veins. Fruit are long, wide and have small corky pyramid shaped projections on their surface.
