Quruli
is a Japanese music group formed in 1996. As of March 2021, the lineup consists of Shigeru Kishida and Masashi Sato. Their music is produced and distributed by Victor Entertainment. Career After meeting at "Rock Commune," Ritsumeikan University's music club, Shigeru Kishida, Masashi Satō, and Nobuyuki Mori formed the original three-piece band. The name "Quruli," an onomatopoeic word expressing rotation, was taken from a sign in the Kyoto Municipal Subway. In October 1998, Quruli released the single on Victor Entertainment. They released their first major label album, in 1999. Quruli released the albums in 2000, produced by Jim O'Rourke, and ''Team Rock'' in 2001. According to music critic Ian Martin, ''Picture Book'' remains one of the most frequently cited influences for Japanese alt-rock bands. Christopher McGuire
Christopher McGuire (born November 28, 1975 -) is an American drum set player, session drummer, drum teacher, and producer. He is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Early life and career Christopher McGuire was raised in a musical family. His mother is a singer and his father is an organist. He grew up in Oxford, Ohio, United States. In 1992, McGuire and other long-time friends and Oxford natives began the band 12 Rods. The group moved to Minneapolis in 1995. McGuire served as the drummer for the band from the start of their career until late September 1999 when he left the group. In the summer of 2003, McGuire was hired as a support musician by Japanese band Quruli (くるり) to temporarily fill the position of drummer for the group for summer festival performances. Jim O'Rourke (born January 18, 1969, Chicago, Illinois) is a Tokyo-based American musician, composer and record producer. He has released albums across varied genres, including singer-songwriter music, post-rock, ambient, noise music, and tape experiments. He was associated with the Chicago experimental and improv scene when he relocated to New York City in 2000. He now resides in Japan. The Gibson Flying V is an electric guitar model introduced by Gibson in 1958. The Flying V offered a radical, "futuristic" body design, much like its siblings: the Explorer, which was released the same year, and the Moderne, which was designed in 1957 but not released until 1982.
