''Quoridor'' is a 2 or 4-player intuitive strategy game designed by Mirko Marchesi and published by Gigamic Games. Quoridor received the '' Mensa Mind Game'' award in 1997 and the ''Game Of The Year'' in the United States, France, Canada and Belgium. Rules of the game Quoridor is played on a game board of 81 square spaces (9x9). Each player is represented by a pawn which begins at the center space of one edge of the board (in a two-player game, the pawns begin opposite each other). The objective is to be the first player to move their pawn to any space on the opposite side of the game board from which it begins. The distinguishing characteristic of Quoridor is its twenty walls. Walls are flat two-space-wide pieces which can be placed in the groove that runs between the spaces. Walls block the path of all pawns, which must go around them. Pinko Pallino
''Pinko Pallino'' is a 2-player abstract strategy game designed by Mirko Marchesi and published by Epta Games in 1995. Game design A dark wooden plaque is divided into 11 x 11 squares by grooved lines. In total there is 2 pawns and 42 walls. Each player has a steel pawn and 21 steel walls. Pinko Pallino is designed exclusively for 2 players. Gameplay and Rules The pawns are placed on the middle square at opposing sides of the board. Each players goal is to move their own pawn across the board to reach the last row on the opposite side. On each turn a player can either move his pawn one square, or put a wall. When a player runs out of his own walls, they can only move their pawn. Placed walls can not be removed. ''Blockade'' (also known as Cul-de-sac) is a strategy board game for two players with the motto "beat the barrier". It's played on a board with an 11x14 grid of spaces, barriers and 2 mobile playing pieces per player. The object of the game is to maneuver ones pieces around barriers and into the opponents starting spaces. The game is long out of production. History Blockade was created by Philip Slater in 1975. In United States, it was published by Lakeside under the name Blockade. In France, Germany, Sweden, and United Kingdom the game was published by Lazy Days under the name Cul-de-sac (French, ''translation'' dead-end). Lakeside went bankrupt in 1983 and ceased production. Cheese

Forsyth–Edwards Notation (FEN) is a standard notation for describing a particular board position of a chess game. The purpose of FEN is to provide all the necessary information to restart a game from a particular position. FEN is based on a system developed by Scottish newspaper journalist David Forsyth. Algebraic Notation (chess)
Algebraic notation (or AN) is the standard method for recording and describing the moves in a game of chess. It is based on a system of coordinates to uniquely identify each square on the chessboard. It is used by most books, magazines, and newspapers. In English-speaking countries, the parallel method of descriptive notation was generally used in chess publications until about 1980. A few players still use descriptive notation, but it is no longer recognized by FIDE, the international chess governing body. Algebraic notation exists in various forms and languages and is based on a system developed by Philipp Stamma. Lucca Comics & Games is an annual Comic book convention, comic book and gaming convention in Lucca, Italy, traditionally held at the end of October, in conjunction with All Saints' Day.
