Quink Vocal Ensemble
Quink is a Dutch vocal ensemble founded in 1978. The five singer line-up c. 1996 included Machteld Van Woerden (soprano), Kees-Jan De Koning (bass), Harry Van Berne (tenor), Corrie Pronk (alto), Marjolein Koetsier (soprano). The four singer line up in 2012 was Marjon Strijk (soprano), Elsbeth Gerritsen (mezzo-soprano), with Harry van Berne and Kees Jan de Koning continuing as tenor and bass. Marjon Strijk
Marjon Strijk is a Dutch classical soprano. She is focused on Renaissance and Baroque music. She has recorded Bach cantatas with the Holland Boys Choir, conducted by Pieter Jan Leusink. Career Strijk studied voice with Jeanne Companjen, Eugenie Ditewig and later with Bas Ramselaar. She took master-classes of Ulrich Eisenlohr and Michael Chance. She has performed regularly with the Holland Boys Choir, conducted by Pieter Jan Leusink, not only in their recordings of all church cantatas by Bach, but also Willem de Fesch's Missa Paschalis, Gregorio Allegri's Miserere, Bach's St Matthew Passion and Mozart's Requiem. Benjamin Britten
Edward Benjamin Britten, Baron Britten (22 November 1913 – 4 December 1976, aged 63) was an English composer, conductor, and pianist. He was a central figure of 20th-century British music, with a range of works including opera, other vocal music, orchestral and chamber pieces. His best-known works include the opera '' Peter Grimes'' (1945), the '' War Requiem'' (1962) and the orchestral showpiece ''The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra'' (1945). Telarc
Telarc International Corporation is an American audiophile independent record label founded in 1977 by two classically trained musicians and former teachers, Jack Renner and Robert Woods. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the label has had a long association with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra, as well as with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Although it started as a classical music label, Telarc has released jazz, blues and country music recordings. In 1996, Telarc merged with another independent label, Heads Up, now a Telarc subsidiary. He was among the most important Dutch composers of the 20th century. Early life and education Heppener was born in Amsterdam on 9 August 1925. He studied composition with Bertus van Lier and piano with Jan Odé and Johan van den Boogert at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Career Heppener taught piano and music theory at the Rotterdam Music School. After leaving Rotterdam, he went to Amsterdam, where he taught music theory and composition at the Muzieklyceum. Daan Manneke
Daan Manneke (born 7 November 1939) is a Dutch composer and organist. Manneke was born in Kruiningen. He studied organ and composition from 1963 to 1967 at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg, under H. Houët and Louis Toebosch (organ) and Jan van Dijk (composition) then studied organ with Belgian organist Kamiel d’Hooghe in Brussels, followed by composition with Ton de Leeuw in Amsterdam. In 1976 he was awarded The Composition Prize at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory, where he now teaches composition and analysis of 20th-century music. He was conductor of Cappella Breda, and has made numerous recordings with them (Dufay, Willaert, Bruckner, Strawinsky, Pärt, Ton de Leeuw, Manneke). Ton De Leeuw
Antonius Wilhelmus Adrianus de Leeuw (Rotterdam, 16 November 1926 - Paris, 31 May 1996) was a Dutch composer. He occasionally experimented with microtonality. Life and career Taught by Henk Badings, Olivier Messiaen and others, and in his youth influenced by Béla Bartók, De Leeuw was a teacher at the University of Amsterdam and later professor of composition and electronic music at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam from 1959 to 1986, at which institute he served as director from 1971–73. Brilliant Classics is a classical music label based in the Dutch town of Leeuwarden. It is renowned for releasing super-budget-priced editions on CD of the complete works of J.S.
