Qudwa
Al-Qudwa, also spelled, al-Qudwah, Kudwah, Qidwa, ( ar, القدوة) is a famous family of notables in the city of Gaza City, Gaza in the State of Palestine of the Ashraf, Ashraf class () . The family is also known as ''Arafat'' ( ar, عرفات), ''Arafat al-Qudwa'' or ''Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini'' . History and background House of Al-Qudwa family members were prominent figures since the seventeenth century. The family traces its origins to two brothers, Sayed Mohammad bin Yusef al-Qudwa and Sayed Arafat bin Yusef al-Qudwa (the first), who settled in Gaza City, Gaza in 1658 AD. Moussa Arafat al-Qudwa (; [birth date unknown] in Jaffa – September 7, 2005 in Gaza City) was a cousin of Palestinian people, Palestinian President of the Palestinian National Authority, leader Yasser Arafat. Fathi Arafat
Fathi Arafat ( ar, فتحي عرفات; January 11, 1933 – December 1, 2004), born in Cairo, was a Palestinian people, Palestinian physician and a founder and long-term chairman of the Palestine Red Crescent Society. He studied medicine at Cairo University from 1950 until 1957 and thereafter practiced as a pediatrician in Cairo, Kuwait and Jordan. He was a younger brother of Palestinian president Yasser Arafat. Arafat became a member of the Palestinian National Council in 1967. From 1968 he was also President of Palestine General Union of Physicians and Pharmacists.
