''Qua'' is the eleventh and final album by German Krautrock band Cluster (band), Cluster, released in May 2009 on Nepenthe Music. It is the band's twelfth studio album and first in fourteen years. Critical reception AllMusic's Wilson Neate wrote that ''Qua'' proves that Cluster still have something "relevant" and "credible" to contribute musically to, as the album "conjures imaginary cinematic sequences in both spartan monochrome and rich Technicolor, spanning diverse moods: from the austere, droning 'Xanesra' and the somber, hymnal 'Flutful' to the playful 'Albtrec Com' and 'So Ney'." Cluster (band)
Cluster were a German musical duo consisting of Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius, formed in 1971 and associated with West Germany's krautrock and kosmische Musik, kosmische music scenes.Bush, John. ''Berlin 07'' is a live album by the German experimental music group Cluster. It was recorded in 2007 at a Cluster concert in Berlin, their first there since 1969. Background Cluster was initially formed in 1969, breaking up in 1981. A reunion followed in 1990 only for the band to break up again in 1997. It was reformed again in 2007 with a concert in the Kosmische Club in Camden, UK. Following this, sister band Harmonia reformed. Dieter Moebius and Michael Rother toured extensively to allow Roedelius to get on with his solo work. The fully reunited Harmonia played in Berlin in November, followed by a Cluster concert. This is that concert, presented by Important Records, the home label of Cluster collaborator Conrad Schnitzler. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. Dieter Moebius
Dieter Moebius (16 January 1944 – 20 July 2015) was a Swiss-born German electronic musician and composer, best known as a member of the influential krautrock bands Cluster and Harmonia. Moebius was studying art at Berlin's Akademie Grafik and working as a restaurant cook when he met Conrad Schnitzler, founder of the Zodiak Free Arts Lab with Hans-Joachim Roedelius. The trio founded the improv group Kluster in 1969. After the departure of Schnitzler, the duo changed their name to Cluster and relocated to the countryside village of Forst, releasing influential albums such as ''Zuckerzeit'' (1974) and ''Sowiesoso'' (1976). Moebius would also draw on his graphic design training create the cover artwork for various Cluster albums and related collaborations. Meanwhile, Moebius and Roedelius founded the band Harmonia with Michael Rother of Neu!, releasing the albums ''Musik von Harmonia'' (1974) and '' Deluxe'' (1975). Hans-Joachim Roedelius
Hans-Joachim Roedelius (born 26 October 1934) is a German electronic musician and composer, best known as a co-founder of the influential 'kosmische' groups Cluster and Harmonia. He also performed in the ambient jazz trio Aquarello, and released several solo studio albums. Biography Early life Roedelius was born on 26 October 1934 in Berlin in the family of a dentist. He was an unwilling member of the German Youngsters in the Hitler Youth, membership being mandatory for all boys from the age of ten, and appeared in several propaganda films (''Faded Melody'' by Viktor Tourjansky in 1938 ; ''Riding for Germany'' by Arthur Maria Rabenalt in 1941). Roedelius and his mother Gertrud were evacuated from Berlin to a small hamlet in East Prussia.
