''Qin Shi Huang'' is a Chinese television series based on the life of Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor who unified China under the Qin dynasty in 221 BC. The series was filmed between 1999 and 2000 and was first released in 2001 in Hong Kong and Thailand and in 2002 in Singapore. In China, the series was edited and altered by historians and experts before it was approved for broadcast on CCTV-1 in 2007. Zhang Fengyi
Zhang Fengyi (born 1 September 1956) is a Chinese actor best known for his role as "Duan Xiaolou" in '' Farewell My Concubine'' (1993), Jing Ke in '' The Emperor and the Assassin'' (1998), and Cao Cao in '' Red Cliff'' (2008–2009). Career Zhang was born in Changsha, Hunan, while his ancestral home was in Tanghe, Henan. When he was merely one month old, he moved with his father to Dongchuan, Yunnan. He left high school in 1971 without completing his studies, and joined the opera troupe of a performing arts group in Dongchuan. He transferred to the singing and dancing team in 1973. In 1978, Zhang was enrolled in the acting department of the Beijing Film Academy with excellent grades. Qin Er Shi
Qin Er Shi (; (230–October 207 BCE) was the second emperor of the Qin dynasty from 210 to 207 BCE. The son of Qin Shi Huang, he was born as Ying Huhai. He was put on the throne by Li Si and Zhao Gao, circumventing Fusu, Ying's brother and the designated heir. Upon Ying's ascension, both Fusu and the popular general Meng Tian were killed on the orders of Li and Zhao, with Qin Er Shi's role in the assassinations remaining uncertain and controversial. A weak ruler, Qin Er Shi's reign was completely dominated by Zhao Gao, who eventually forced him to commit suicide.
