Qurd (album)
''Qurd'' is a studio album by the Dayirman. The album contains fifteen compositions based on Azerbaijani hip hop. Content Subject matter ''Qurd'' is a reflective album, featuring Dayirman's more personal and serious side. This change gives the album a lighter tone, a departure from his previous albums. One of the most noticeable changes is the generally lighter lyrical content. Over the course of the album, the group touches on the issues of Karabakh in hip hop ("Ya Qarabağ, Ya Ölüm"), Pan-Turkism ("Turk turke dastak"), the Turan and Tengrism ("Qurd"). Dayirman ( az, Dəyirman) was the first Azerbaijani hip hop group, based in Baku and was founded in 1996 by four friends. The word ''Dayirman'' means ''windmill'' in Azerbaijani language. Arif Şirin
Arif Şirin, commonly known as Ozan Arif ("Arif the Bard"; June 10, 1949 – February 13, 2019), was a Turkish lyricist, composer, singer, and bağlama performer, foremost known for his songs with lyrics propagating the Turkish nationalist cause. Life Şirin was born in his father's village Yükselen (Hapu) in Alucra district. Meykhana
Meykhana ( az, Meyxana) is a distinctive Azerbaijani literary and folk rap tradition, consisting of an unaccompanied song performed by one or more people improvising on a particular subject. Meykhana is distinct from spoken word poetry in that it is performed in time to a beat. Meykhana is often compared to hip hop music, also known as ''national rap'' among Azerbaijani residents, as it also includes performers that is spoken lyrically, in rhyme and verse, generally to an instrumental or synthesized beat. Performers also incorporate synthesizers, drum machines, and live bands. Meykhana masters may write, memorize, or improvise their lyrics and perform their works a cappella or to a beat. Mugham
Mugham ( az, Muğam) or Mughamat ( az, Muğamat) is one of the many classical compositions from Azerbaijan, contrasting with tasnif and ashik. It is a highly complex art form that weds classical poetry and musical improvisation in specific local modes. Mugham is a modal system. Unlike Western modes, "mugham" modes are associated not only with scales but with an orally transmitted collection of melodies and melodic fragments that performers use in the course of improvisation. Mugham is a compound composition of many parts. The choice of a particular mugham and a style of performance fits a specific event.
