Quizzical Pictures, formerly known as Curious Pictures until 2012, is a South African film and television production company based in the Johannesburg area. The company was originally founded as Weekly Mail Television in 1993 and then '' Mail & Guardian'' Television. The company separated from the ''Mail & Guardian'' in 1999, becoming Curious Pictures. As to avoid confusion with the American production company of the same name, the company's name changed again in 2012 to Quizzical Pictures. In 2014, the studio moved to a warehouse facility in Randburg. Greenside, Gauteng
Greenside, is a suburbs of Johannesburg, suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. Greenside borders on the suburbs Emmarentia, Gauteng, Emmarentia, Parkview, Gauteng, Parkview, Parkhurst, Gauteng, Parkhurst and Victory Park. History Greenside lies on land that once made up the ''Braamfontein Farm'', one of many large farms that makes what is Johannesburg and its suburbs. The farm land was bought in 1886 by Lourens Geldenhuys for its mining rights as it was hoped that the Confidence Reef would extend into his farm but it did not. Land remained as a farm and by 1891 it was divided, along what is now Orange Road, between his son's Frans and Louw where the brothers had already built two farm houses. Louw Geldenhuys died in 1929 and his wife Emmarentia would begin to sell parts of the farm that became the surrounding suburbs, one of which became Greenside on 4 February 1931 and was surveyed by the Rand Mines Group. ZBC TV, also known as ZTV, is Zimbabwe's public free to air television network that is fully owned and operated by the state broadcaster. ''Shaina'' is a 2020 Zimbabwean television film directed by Beautie Masvaure Alt and produced by Siphiwe Hlabangane. The film stars Wilmah Munemera with Tinodiwanashe Chitma, Gamu Mukwakwami, Tarumbidwa Chirume, and Joylene Malenga in supporting roles. The film is about a Zimbabwean teenager Shine, and group of friends who encounter life-changing obstacles which they deal with forgiveness and friendship. Showmax is an online subscription video on demand (SVOD) service which launched in South Africa on 19 August 2015. Showmax uses a localisation strategy to take on established video on demand competitors with a focus on local content and partnerships with mobile telcos. In South Africa Showmax has managed to out compete eight domestic competitors. It continues to compete with international video steaming services Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video. M-Net (an abbreviation of Electronic Media Network) is a South African pay television channel established by Naspers in 1986. The channel broadcasts both local and international programming, including general entertainment, children's series, sport and movies. Vuzu
Vuzu was a South African youth-oriented television channel produced by M-Net for sister pay television platform DStv. History The channel launched on 1 August 2003 as "go", as a competitor to MTV. In March 2009, it was announced that the channel would be rebranded as Vuzu on 1 July 2009, tying into an attempted social network of the same name. The network also switched its programming schedule and discontinued some shows, to the complaint of some viewers.
