''Quiet Girl with a Credit Card'' is the debut album from Australian singer-songwriter Lisa Miller. It was released in Australia in 1996 on the W.Minc label and licensed for release in Europe by Demon Records. It was produced by Graham Lee (ex-The Triffids) who had previously played pedal steel guitar in Lisa's roots-rock band Truckasaurus. The album features Lisa's own compositions, plus two songs by Melbourne friends (one each from Dave Graney and Conway Savage), and two US classics: Bob Dylan's "You're a Big Girl Now" and Dan Penn's "Woman Left Lonely". Lisa Anne Miller is an Australian country pop singer-songwriter and guitarist. She has issued seven albums, '' Quiet Girl with a Credit Card'' (1996), ''As Far as a Life Goes'' (1999), ''Car Tape'' (2002), ''Version Originale'' (2003), ''Morning in the Bowl of Night'' (2007), '' Car Tape 2'' (2010) and ''Meet the Misses'' (2012). Steel Guitar
A steel guitar ( haw, kīkākila) is any guitar played while moving a steel bar or similar hard object against plucked strings. The bar itself is called a "steel" and is the source of the name "steel guitar". The instrument differs from a conventional guitar in that it is played without using frets; conceptually, it is somewhat akin to playing a guitar with one finger (the bar). Known for its portamento capabilities, gliding smoothly over every pitch between notes, the instrument can produce a sinuous crying sound and deep vibrato emulating the human singing voice. Typically, the strings are plucked (not strummed) by the fingers of the dominant hand, while the steel tone bar is pressed lightly against the strings and moved by the opposite hand. Conway Victor Savage (27 July 1960 – 2 September 2018) was an Australian rock musician. He was a member of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, providing piano, organ & backing vocals from 1990–2017. "You're a Big Girl Now" is a song by Bob Dylan, released on his 15th studio album, ''Blood on the Tracks'', in 1975. It is one of five songs on the album that Dylan initially recorded in New York City in September 1974 and then re-recorded in Minneapolis in December that year. The latter recording, made on December 27, 1974, became the album track. Composition and recording Like most songs on ''Blood on the Tracks'', "You're a Big Girl Now" tells a story about two lovers that are breaking up. In the lyrics, the first-person narrator begs his lover to give him one more chance. Some critics have interpreted the song as being inspired by the tumult in Dylan's marriage to his then-wife Sara.
