Quero Ser Tua
Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Quero ser tua" written by Emanuel. The song was performed by Suzy (singer), Suzy. In November 2013, the Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) announced that they would be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their withdrawal in Eurovision Song Contest 2013, 2013 due to financial reasons. RTP organised the national final ''Festival da Canção 2014'' in order to select the Portuguese entry for the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark. After a semi-final and a final which took place in March 2014, "Quero ser tua" performed by Suzy emerged as the winner after gaining 41.56% of the public televote. Portugal was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 6 May 2014. Suzy (singer)
Susana Guerra (born 24 January 1980), known professionally as Suzy Guerra and formerly Suzy, is a Portuguese singer and former flight attendant. She represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark with the song " Quero ser tua". Early life Suzy was born in Figueira da Foz. From very early on she has shown great pleasure in singing, appearing for the first time on stage at only 5 years of age, at the Cineteatro Caras Direitas in Buarcos, a small village in the centre of Portugal. The Eurovision Song Contest 1988 was the 33rd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Dublin, Ireland, following Johnny Logan's win at the with the song " Hold Me Now". Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ), the contest was held at the RDS Simmonscourt on 30 April 1988 and was hosted by Irish broadcaster Pat Kenny and the Miss Ireland 1980 Michelle Rocca, marking the first time since the contest that two presenters had hosted the contest. Portugal was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1985, held in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Portuguese national final to select their entry, the ''Festival RTP da Canção 1985'', was held on 7 March at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, and was hosted by Margarida Andrade and Eládio Clímaco. Eleven songs competed at the national final. The votes of national juries chose the winner. RTP1 HD
RTP1 HD was RTP's HDTV channel. In 2008 it broadcast the 2008 Summer Olympics in HD on ZON's cable and satellite platforms. It is also marketed as RTP1 HD, when broadcasting RTP1 programming. The channel closed on November 28, 2017, after the test period ended and RTP1 got a proper HD simulcast.
