Queensland Country Championships
The Queensland Country Championships, also known as the Graincorp Country Championship, is a rugby union competition for teams from regions of Queensland outside of Brisbane. The Queensland Country Rugby Union administers the competitions at Senior (open age) and Colts (under 19) levels. Eleven country sub-unions are grouped into three regional divisions in Northern, Central, and Southern Queensland for the championships. History Beginnings: Country Week The first Queensland rugby tournament was the Country Week carnival hosted by the QRU in 1902. Teams from Warwick, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Ipswich and Gympie, travelled to Brisbane to take part in the matches. Combined regional teams also played off against each other for selection in the Country representative teams to play Brisbane's A and B sides. Queensland Country is an Australian rugby union football team that competes in the National Rugby Championship (NRC). The team is one of two Queensland sides in the competition, the other being . Queensland Country is organised and managed by the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU), with the coaching and training programs used at the Queensland Reds extended to players joining the team from the Reds, Queensland Premier Rugby, Premier and Queensland Country Championships, Country rugby teams. Queensland Country Heelers
The Queensland Country Heelers is an amateur rugby union football team that represents the regions of Queensland outside of Brisbane. The team is selected by the Queensland Country Rugby Union following the annual Queensland Country Championships, and plays other representative teams from around Australia. Logo and colours Queensland Country adopted the Heelers logo featuring an Australian cattle dog in 2000. These working dogs, also known as "Queensland Heelers", are well known throughout regional areas of Queensland. The team colours are blue and white. The Sunshine Coast Rugby Union is the local rugby union competition on Australia's Sunshine Coast. Gold Coast District Rugby Union
The Gold Coast and District Rugby Union, or GCDRU, is the local governing body for the sport of rugby union on Australia's Gold Coast. The GCRU runs a club rugby competition for men's teams with three senior grades, as well as a junior club competition that caters for teams grouped by age from under 6 to under 18 and Girls/Women's 7's on a Friday night.
