Queen Sapyeong
Queen Sapyeong of the Jeonju Yi clan () was the first and primary wife of King Gangjong of Goryeo when he was still a crown prince who just reigned for 9 months. Descended from Yi Yongbu, she would become the first cousin fifth removed to Yi Seonggye and only royal wife in Korean history who was born and came from the Jeonju Yi clan. Biography Early life The future Queen Sapyeong was born into the Jeonju Yi clan as the only daughter of Yi Ui-bang, son of Yi Yong-bu and Lady Jo in Jeonju, Jeollakbuk-do. Marriage and later life In 1174, she married Crown Prince Wang Suk as his primary and first wife since her father had a big influence in the court. Jeong Jung-bu
Jeong Jung-bu (1106 – 18 October 1179) was a medieval Korean soldier and military dictator during the Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392). He was a career soldier, qualified on military part of civil service examination. He was most noted for leading a coup d'état in 1170 (''Revolt of military officers''), dethroning the king and beginning of 100-year military reign in Korea. Early career Jeong was born in 1106; he learned martial arts and military tactics in his early days. He was often reported to be 7-foot-tall giant with great confidence and intelligence. He was a diligent soldier, and his loyalty earned him the trust from the king. He went through a slow promotion and later became Chief of General Staff. Queen Uijeong
Queen Uijeong of the Gim clan (Hangul: 의정왕후 김씨, Hanja: 義靜王后 金氏; d. 1170) or known as Queen Mother Gwangjeong () was a Goryeo royal family member as the third daughter Duke Gangneung who married her half second cousin once removed, King Myeongjong as his first and primary wife. She was also the mother of his only successor and two daughters. From all of her families' records, just she who didn't appear clearly about her life. It was believed that she married Myeongjong when he was still "Marquess Ikyang" (익양후) and "Duke Ikyang" (익양공), but eventually died after his ascension to the throne succeeded his brother, King Uijong. Joseon (; ; Middle Korean: 됴ᇢ〯션〮 Dyǒw syéon or 됴ᇢ〯션〯 Dyǒw syěon), officially the Great Joseon (; ), was the last dynastic kingdom of Korea, lasting just over 500 years.
