Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale
Queen Elizabeth School is a coeducational, comprehensive secondary school and sixth form with academy status. It is located in Kirkby Lonsdale, in the English county of Cumbria. In 1591, Queen Elizabeth School (QES) was granted a royal charter and founded as a free grammar school. QES moved from its original Mill Brow location in 1840 to the newly constructed Springfield House on Biggins Lane, Kirkby Lonsdale. Girls were first admitted in 1905, and by 1930 there were 88 day pupils and 54 boarders, approximately half and half boys and girls. QES became a non-selective comprehensive school in 1978 and continued to take in boarders until the late 1980s. In 1997 Springfield House, the boys' boarding accommodation, was redeveloped as a dedicated Sixth Form area. On 1 December 2010 QES became the first school in the county to convert to academy status. Queen Elizabeth High School, Carmarthen
Queen Elizabeth High School is a comprehensive school for Carmarthen town and its surrounding areas. History The school was formed in September 2005 by the joining together of Queen Elizabeth Maridunum School and Queen Elizabeth Cambria School, which were located within 300m of each other. In September 2008, Daniyal Shahzad, a Pakistani national falsely claiming his name was Ahmer Rana, became a pupil at the school. Lodging with foster parents, on investigation in 2010 by the UK Border Agency, he claimed that he had no family. He was subject to a deportation order, and the school became the centre of a campaign to allow him to stay in the UK, which resulted in a 4,000 signature petition being collected and presented to Gordon Brown. Queen Elizabeth School (), or QES and QE ( or ) for short, is a school in Hong Kong. The school was the first English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) (Anglo-Chinese) co-education secondary school founded by the Government of Hong Kong. It is located on a mound at the boundary of Sai Yee Street and Prince Edward Road West in Mong Kok, Kowloon, adjacent to Grand Century Place, CCC Heep Woh Primary School () and HK Weaving Mills Association Primary School ().
