Quebec Route 342
Route 342 is a provincial highway located in the Montérégie region of Quebec west of Montreal. It runs from the Ontario-Quebec border in Pointe-Fortune (at the junctions of Ontario Highway 417 and Autoroute 40 and ends in Vaudreuil-Dorion at the junction of Autoroute 20. Before the construction of Autoroute 40 in 1959 (and its continuation in Ontario as Highway 417) it was the main route between Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario (becoming Route 17 in Ontario). It serves as an alternate route to Autoroute 40 and has 4 interchanges with it in Pointe-Fortune, Rigaud and Hudson. Quebec Autoroute 40
Autoroute 40, officially known as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc outside Montreal and Metropolitan Autoroute/Autoroute Métropolitaine within Montreal, is an Autoroute on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is one of the two major connections between Montreal and Quebec City, the other being Autoroute 20 on the south shore of the St. Lawrence. Autoroute 40 is currently long. Between the Ontario–Quebec boundary and the interchange with Autoroute 25, the route is signed as part of the Trans-Canada Highway. Salaberry-de-Valleyfield
Salaberry-de-Valleyfield is a city in southwestern Quebec, Canada, in the Regional County Municipality of Beauharnois-Salaberry. The population as of 2019 was 42,410. Situated on Grande-Île, an island in the Saint Lawrence River, it is bordered at its western end by Lake Saint Francis, with the Saint Lawrence to the north and the Beauharnois Canal to its south. This is a list of the regional county municipalities (RCM or MRC) and equivalent territories (TE) in the province of Quebec, Canada. They are given along with their geographical codes as specified by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy, and the administrative regions to which they belong. RCMs are county-like units of government at the supralocal level. However, not all municipalities belong to an RCM. Saint-Lazare, Quebec
Saint-Lazare is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada in the Regional County Municipality of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. History Originally part of the Seigneurie de Vaudreuil in the 18th century, the territory corresponding to Saint-Lazare was considered difficult to farm owing to sandy soil, and remained mostly uninhabited. In 1812, the first settlers were Americans from New England, then circa 1820 English from Cumberland, followed soon after by French Canadians. Saint-Lazare was founded as a parish municipality on December 29, 1875. The first church was built in 1877, destroyed by a fire in 1942 and subsequently rebuilt in 1947. Quebec Autoroute 20
Autoroute 20 is a Quebec Autoroute, following the Saint Lawrence River through one of the more densely populated parts of Canada, with its central section forming the main route of the Trans-Canada Highway from the A-25 interchange to the A-85 interchange. At , it is the longest Autoroute in Quebec. It is one of two main links between Montreal and Quebec City; the other is the A-40. There are two sections of the A-20, separated by a gap. The mainline extends for from the Ontario border to its current terminus at Trois-Pistoles. The second, more northerly section is far shorter (). Ontario Highway 417
King's Highway 417, commonly referred to as Highway 417 and as the Queensway through Ottawa, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It connects Ottawa with Montreal via A-40, and is the backbone of the highway system in the National Capital Region. Within Ottawa, it forms part of the Queensway west from Highway 7 to Ottawa Road 174. Highway 417 extends from the Quebec border, near Hawkesbury, to Arnprior, where it continues westward as Highway 17.
