Quebec Route 171
Route 171 is a north/south highway on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada. Its southern terminus is in Scott at the junction of Route 173 and its northern terminus is in Lévis at the junction of Route 132. Route 171 follows the Chaudière River for most of its course, from the former town of Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon up to Scott. Since it parallels Autoroute 73, and as it is located on the western side of the Chaudiere (whereas most town centres are located on the eastern side), Route 171 is far from being a busy highway. Scott, Quebec
Scott is a municipality in the La Nouvelle-Beauce Regional County Municipality, Municipalité régionale de comté de la Nouvelle-Beauce in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region and the population is 2,566 as of 2021. History The origin of the Municipality of Scott dates back to 1897 with the foundation of the parish municipality of Saint-Maxime. This municipality was formed from sections of the neighbouring municipalities of Saint-Bernard, Quebec, Saint-Bernard, Saint-Isidore, Chaudière-Appalaches, Quebec, Saint-Isidore-de-Lauzon and Sainte-Marie, Quebec, Sainte-Marie-de-la-Nouvelle-Beauce. In 1933, Saint-Maxime was splitted in two with the foundation of the municipality of Taschereau-Fortier around the more rural sections of the municipality while Saint-Maxime only kept the more urbanized village. Lévis, Quebec
Lévis () is a city in eastern Quebec, Canada, located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, opposite Quebec City. A ferry links Old Quebec with Old Lévis, and two bridges, the Quebec and the Pierre-Laporte, connect western Lévis with Quebec City. The population in July 2017 was 144,147. Its current incarnation was founded on January 1, 2002, as the result of a merger among ten cities, including the older city of Lévis founded in 1861. Route 173 (Route-du-Président-Kennedy) is a major north/south highway on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada, named after the assassinated American president, John F. Kennedy. Its southern terminus is at the Armstrong-Jackman Border Crossing in Saint-Théophile in the hamlet of Armstrong, at the border with Maine ( U.S. Route 201 / Maine SR 6), and its northern terminus is in Lévis at the junction of Route 132. Route 132 (Quebec)
Route 132 is the longest highway in Quebec. It follows the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River from the border with the state of New York in the hamlet of Dundee (connecting with New York State Route 37 (NY 37) via NY 970T, an unsigned reference route, north of Massena), west of Montreal to the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and circles the Gaspé Peninsula. This highway is known as the Navigator's Route. It passes through the Montérégie, Centre-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie regions of the province. Unlike the more direct Autoroute 20, which it shadows from Longueuil to Sainte-Luce, Route 132 takes a more scenic route which goes through many historic small towns. Autoroute 73 (or A-73) is an autoroute in Quebec, Canada. Following a northwest-southeast axis perpendicular to the Saint Lawrence River, the A-73 provides an important freeway link with regions north and south of Quebec City, the capital of the province. It also intersects with Autoroute 20 (south of the river) and Autoroute 40 (north of the river) - one of only three Quebec autoroutes to do so. Saint-Bernard, Quebec
Saint-Bernard is a municipality in the Municipalité régionale de comté de la Nouvelle-Beauce in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region and the population is 2,535 as of 2021. Constituted in 1845, it is named after Archbishop Bernard-Claude Panet. The municipality is located on scenic Route 171 in Beauce. On August 26, 1972, five days after escaping from Saint-Vincent-de-Paul jail in Laval, Quebec, notorious French criminal Jacques Mesrine and his Quebec accomplice Jean-Paul Mercier robbed the Caisse populaire of Saint-Bernard. Ten minutes later, they robbed the ''caisse'' of Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage, for a total of $26,000 that day. Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec
Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon is a municipality in La Nouvelle-Beauce Regional County Municipality in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region and the population is 6,177 as of the Canada 2011 Census. Prior to June 22, 2013 it was a parish municipality. It is named after Pierre Lambert, a land surveyor who planned neighbouring Lévis. Lauzon refers to the ''seigneurie'' of Lauzon, the first to be established on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in 1636. History The parish municipality of Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon was established July 1, 1855 from the disbanded county of Dorchester.
