Piano della Lenta is a neighborhood of Teramo, Italy. Piano della Lenta extends to the north of the city center along the State Highway 80 (SS 80), the main road to Ascoli Piceno. It is located about three kilometers from the Teramo city center and has the characteristic of being a mere extension of the city itself. It is located roughly a kilometre away, however from the town of Puntignano. Overview The area's name, "Piano della Lenta" (Plain of Leisure) probably derives from a number of inns and wineries which once dotted the landscape. They served as a welcome stopping off point fortravelers who journeyed from the Teramo city center to the surrounding villages and towns. Teramo (; nap, label= Abruzzese, Tèreme ) is a city and ''comune'' in the Italian region of Abruzzo, the capital of the province of Teramo. The city, from Rome, is situated between the highest mountains of the Apennines (Gran Sasso d'Italia) and the Adriatic coast. Saint Rita
Rita of Cascia, born Margherita Lotti (1381 – 22 May 1457), was an Italian widow and Augustinian nun venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. After Rita's husband died, she joined an Augustinian community of religious sisters, where she was known both for practicing mortification of the flesh and for the efficacy of her prayers. Various miracles are attributed to her intercession, and she is often portrayed with a bleeding wound on her forehead, which is understood to indicate a partial stigmata. Pope Leo XIII canonized Rita on 24 May 1900. Her feast day is celebrated on 22 May. At her canonization ceremony, she was bestowed the title of ''Patroness of Impossible Causes'', while in many Catholic countries, Rita came to be known as the patroness of abused wives and heartbroken women. Cona is a quarter of Teramo, central Italy. It takes its name from the presence of the local church, ''Madonna della Cona''. The Madonna della Cona is a religious symbol of abundance and fertility with a festival the first Sunday in September that is celebrated in her honor. Gammarana
Gammarana is a neighborhood in the city of Teramo in Italy's Abruzzo region. It is located near the local railway station. In the 1960s a number of apartment buildings were constructed in the area and in doing its character changed in nature from industrial to residential. History Up until World War II Gammarana hosted a small airport. During the war many small military aircraft used the airport to ferry supplies and war materials in and out of Teramo. One street, Via dell'aeroporto (Airport Road), still bears the name of this transportation link. The airport has long been razed to make way for the residential building boom which followed the Allied victories. In the late 1950s and early 1960s several medium industrial enterprises were established in Gammarana.
