Herbert Quandt
Herbert Werner Quandt (22 June 1910 – 2 June 1982) was a German industrialist credited with having saved BMW when it was at the point of bankruptcy and made a huge profit in doing so. Quandt also oversaw the use at his family's factories during World War II of tens of thousands of slave labourers, many of which perished. Early life Herbert Quandt was born in Pritzwalk, the second son of Günther Quandt (1881–1954) and Antonie "Toni" Quandt (born Ewald). Antonie died of the Spanish flu in 1918. Quandt was afflicted with a retinal disease that left scars, and he was nearly blind from the age of nine. Consequently, he had to be educated at home. Günther Quandt
Günther Quandt (28 July 1881 – 30 December 1954) was a German industrialist who founded an industrial empire that today includes BMW and Altana, a car and chemical company, respectively. Between, 1921 and 1929 he was married to Magda Ritschel, later the wife of Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels. In the 1930s he joined the Nazi Party, becoming one of his strong financial supporters. His descendants were ranked as the wealthiest Germans by Manager Magazin in 2014. Early life He was born in Pritzwalk in Germany, the son of Emil Quandt (1849–1925). Emil had married in 1883 the daughter of a rich textile manufacturer (Reichswolle AG) and he took charge of the company in 1900. Harald Quandt (1 November 1921 – 22 September 1967) was a German industrialist, the son of industrialist Günther Quandt and Magda Behrend Rietschel. His parents divorced and his mother was later married to Joseph Goebbels. Johanna Maria Quandt (''née'' Bruhn; 21 June 1926 – 3 August 2015) was a German billionaire businesswoman and the widow of industrialist Herbert Quandt, who resurrected BMW from bankruptcy. When she died in 2015 she was the 8th richest person in Germany (and the richest German woman), 77th richest person in the world, and the 11th richest woman worldwide according to ''Forbes''. Johann Gottlob von Quandt (9 April 1787 – 19 June 1859) was a German artist, art scholar, and collector. Biography Von Quandt was born in Leipzig. He had met and corresponded with Goethe. Some of his own works are exhibited in the Tower of Fresken at the town of Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach, near Dresden. He died in Dresden. Gottlob von Quandt never received any formal education. He did, however, study under people like Johann Friedrich Rochlitz, C. de Renty, and Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld. Silvia Quandt is a German artist. Early life Quandt was born in 1937 in Berlin, the only child of the marriage between German industrialist Herbert Quandt, a man who was eventually the major shareholder of BMW, and his first wife Ursel Munstermann. Her parents divorced in 1940 and Silvia stayed with her mother. Artistic career She studied at the Academy for Graphic Arts in Munich and then trained as a commercial artist. Johann Jakob Quandt ( lt, Jonas Jokūbas Kvantas; 27 March 1686 in Königsberg – 17 January 1772 in Königsberg) was a German orthodox Lutheran theologian, and professor of theology in Königsberg.
