Qaşqaçay (also, Kashkachay) is a village and municipality in the Qakh Rayon of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 1,495. Azerbaijan is administratively divided into 66 districts () and 11 cities () that are subordinate to the Republic. Qakh Rayon
Qakh District ( az, Qax rayonu; ka, კახის რაიონი, K′akhis raioni; Tsakhur: Къахын район) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the north of the country and belongs to the Shaki-Zagatala Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Zagatala, Shaki, Samukh, Yevlakh, and the Russian Republic of Dagestan. Its capital and largest city is Qakh. As of 2020, the district had a population of 57,200. Geography The region is dominated by hot and subtropical climate. However mountainous areas are rather cold. Javanshir Rahimov
Javanshir Izzat oglu Rahimov ( az, Cavanşir İzzət oğlu Rəhimov ; June 5, 1973 – August 6, 1992) was an Azerbaijani soldier and the National Hero of Azerbaijan. Early years Rahimov was born in Qaşqaçay, Qakh. When he was one year old his family moved to Baku , Qaraçuxur. He finished secondary school No. 104 in Suraxanı raion. Military service In April 1992, Javanshir Rahimov entered active military service. He became an onboard shooter on Military helicopters. He expressed his desire to go to war as a volunteer and was assigned to a Mil Mi-24, MI-24 Helicopter. Nagorno Karabakh War On August 6, 1992, on his second flight of the day he was wounded. Rahimov insisted that he was ready for flight and flew again. This time their helicopter was shot down by missile fire from Armenian forces. Gashgachay (river)
Gashgachay, in the lower reaches of the Durujachay ( az, Qaşqaçay) is a river in Azerbaijan, the right tributary of Ayrichay. It flows through the territory of Gakh, and partially of Sheki districts. It has a length of 33 km, and basin area of 136 km2. Description The source of Gashgachay is located on the southern slope of the main Caucasian range, at an altitude of 2200 m. The river is fed mainly by underground and rain waters. The water of Ayrichay is used for irrigation. It flows in general in the south-western direction. On the river are established the settlements of Armudlu, Kashkachay, Bilijik, Kazmalar, Baidarly, Onjalli. In the upper reaches of the river there are hornbeam-oak forests.
