Qayyum Papa Stadium
The Qayyum Papa Stadium, also known as Qayyum Ali Changezi Stadium, is a football stadium in Mari Abad, Quetta, Pakistan. Named after the Pakistan national football team former captain Qayyum Ali Changezi, it has the capacity to accommodate up to 10,000 spectators. The stadium has also been used on occasion to celebrate the Hazara culture day. History The stadium was initially built by MPA minister Syed Muhammad Agha Raza in 2014, named after footballer Qayyum Ali Changezi who played for the Pakistan national team in the 1950s and 1960s. It was initially intended to engage local youth in sports and providing a safe environment to deter them from harmful activities like drug use. In 2019, a Ramazan tournament was held at the stadium where the teams from Quetta and specifically from the Hazara community would play in the venue. Mari Abad
Mariabad ( haz, ) is an inner eastern suburb of Quetta, capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province. It is the most populous area of Quetta with five lakh population. The majority of the population are Hazara people. This place is the birthplace of many Hazara political, social, military, writers, sports personalities of Quetta city. The Hazaras ( fa, , Həzārə; haz, , Āzərə) are an ethnic group and the principal component of the population of Afghanistan, native to, and primarily residing in the Hazaristan (Hazarajat) region in central Afghanistan and generally scattered throughout Afghanistan. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenanceartificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. Domed, covered, and partially covered stadiums may require artificial turf because of the difficulty of getting grass enough sunlight to stay healthy. 2023 National Games Of Pakistan
The 2023 National Games of Pakistan was the 34th edition of the National Games of Pakistan. The event was held in Quetta, with some disciplines taking place in Islamabad, Jhelum, Karachi, and Lahore. Quetta hosted the Games for the first time since 2004, when the city hosted the 29th edition. The Balochistan Sports Department hosted the event in collaboration with the Pakistan Olympic Association. The Games was officially opened on 22 May 2023 by Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the Chief Minister of Balochistan. The President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, was the chief guest of the closing ceremony on 30 May 2023. Schedule Quetta was originally scheduled to hold the event in 2012, but could not do so due to various reasons. As a result, Peshawar was selected to host the 33rd edition of the Games in 2019. Qayyum Changezi
Qayyum Changezi (born 1932) was a Pakistani footballer who played as a forward. Considered as one of the earliest legends in Pakistan football history, he was known for his leadership, free kicks, and goal-scoring abilities. Early life Belonging to the ethnic Hazara community, Changezi was born in Quetta in the Baluchistan Agency of British India in 1932. Club career Nicknamed "''Papa''", Changezi played as a left back, forward or winger. He developed an interest in football while attending high school, playing for Hazara Club Quetta in his youth until making his senior debut in 1950. The Pakistan national football team represents Pakistan association football in FIFA-authorized events and is controlled by the Pakistan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Pakistan.
