Qatari Second Division
The Qatari Second Division ( ar, دوري الدرجة الثانية القطري), QSD or Second Division League, also was known as Qatargas League due to sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of football league competition in Qatar. Contested by 8 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatar Stars League (QSL). Seasons of the QSD run from September to April. The league's first season was played in 1979 which was won by Al-Ittihad. The club with the most QSD wins is Al-Markhiya which has won 5 QSD titles The league currently features 8 clubs, with one club being promoted to make room for one club being relegated. Al-Sailiya SC
Al-Sailiya Sports Club ( ar, نادي السيلية الرياضي) is a Qatari professional football club currently competing in the Qatar Stars League. They are based in Doha and play their home games at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. History Al Sailiya were founded as ''Al Qadsiya'' on 10 October 1995. In 2003, the club adopted its current name, ''Al Sailiya''. They were relegated in 2006 after finishing at the bottom of the Qatar Stars League. They won promotion back to the Qatar Stars League for the 2007–08 season, but were once again relegated to the Qatargas League in the 2010–11 season. Al Shahaniya Sports Club ( ar, نادي الشحانية الرياضي), is a Qatari sports club based in Al-Shahaniya, a town 20 km from the capital Doha. Founded in 1998, the most prominent team of the club is the football team which plays in the Qatari Second Division. The club's home ground is Grand Hamad Stadium. History Al Shahaniya was founded on 27 December 1998, under the name Al-Nasr, under the decision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Eid Al Thani, who was then the chairman of the Public Authority for youth and sports at that time. Muaither SC ( ar, نادي معيذر الرياضي) is a multi-sports club based in Muaither, Qatar. It is best known for its football department, which plays in the Qatari Second Division. History 1996–2013: Second division The club was founded in 1996 as "Al Shabab". It changed its name to "Al Muaither" in 2004 by decision of the Qatar Olympic Committee. They played exclusively in the Qatari Second Division until 2013. Their first promotion play-off was in the 1999–00 season against Qatar SC.
