Qalqilya Zoo
Qalqilya Zoo is a small zoo in the State of Palestine, Palestinian city of Qalqilya on the western edge of the West Bank. Established in 1986, it is the only zoo in State of Palestine, the State of Palestine. The zoo houses 170 animals, a small Natural history, Natural History museum, a children's entertainment park, and on-site restaurants. History The zoo was the brainchild of the former mayor of Qalqilya. Israeli zoos helped to stock it and it was designed as a symbol of Arab-Israeli cooperation. When it opened in 1986, the zoo was considered a "jewel in the crown of Palestinian national institutions." It became a popular attraction and was later expanded to accommodate the increasing flow of visitors, which included both Arabs and Israelis. Qalqilyah
Qalqilya or Qalqiliya ( ar, قلقيلية, Qalqīlyaḧ) is a Palestinian city in the West Bank which serves as the administrative center of the Qalqilya Governorate of the State of Palestine. In the 2007 census, the city had a population of 41,739. Qalqilya is surrounded by the Israeli West Bank wall, with a narrow gap in the east controlled by the Israeli military and a tunnel to the Palestinian town of Hableh. Qalqilya is under the administration of the Palestinian National Authority (as part of Area A), while remaining under Israeli military occupation. Oranges are a major part of the city's economy. Etymology Qalqilya was known as ''Calecailes'' in the Roman period, and ''Calcelie'' in the Frankish sources from the early Medieval times. The word "Qalqilya" might be derived from a Canaanite term which means "rounded stones or hills".According to E.H. Tear gas, also known as a lachrymator agent or lachrymator (), sometimes colloquially known as "mace" after the early commercial aerosol, is a chemical weapon that stimulates the nerves of the lacrimal gland in the eye to produce tears. London Zoo, also known as ZSL London Zoo or London Zoological Gardens is the world's oldest scientific zoo. It was opened in London on 27 April 1828, and was originally intended to be used as a collection for science, scientific study.
