Q (1970s Band)
Q was a disco group formed in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, USA. They released an album on Epic Records entitled ''Dancin' Man'' in 1977, which was successful. The group featured two members from Jaggerz, a hit-making group from the early 1970s. The title track from the album was released as a single and was successful in the US, becoming a Top 40 hit. Commercial success Q released a single, titled " Dancin' Man," in Spring 1977 (the B side was entitled "Love Pollution"); spurred on by regional airplay and a full-page ad taken out in ''Billboard'' magazine, the single became a Top 30 hit in the US, peaking at number 23. In the UK, though not a national hit, in London the song reached number 8 on Capital Radio's 'Capital Countdown' Top 40 in May 1977. Q's debut album, also titled "Dancin' Man," was less successful, reaching #140 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Beaver Falls is a city in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,005 at the 2020 census. Located 31 miles (50 km) northwest of Pittsburgh, the city lies along the Beaver River, six miles (9 km) north of its confluence with the Ohio River. It is a part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The Jaggerz are an American rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They came to national attention with their single "The Rapper" which was released on the Kama Sutra label. "The Rapper" was No. 1 in the Record World Charts and No. 2 in the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in March 1970. "Dancin' Man" is a song by disco group Q, written by Rob Peckman. It reached the Top 40 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and received substantial play in the American Southeast. Release "Dancin' Man" was released by Epic Records in Spring 1977. The song's B-side was titled "Love Pollution." To promote the song, Epic Records took out a full-page advertisement in the April 23, 1977 issue of ''Billboard'' magazine, urging DJs and radio stations to put the song into rotation. A one-hit wonder or viral hit is any entity that achieves mainstream popularity, often for only one piece of work, and becomes known among the general public solely for that momentary success. The term is most commonly used in regard to music performers with only one hit single that overshadows their other work. Some artists dubbed "one-hit wonders" in a particular country have had great success in other countries. Music artists with subsequent popular albums and hit listings are typically not considered a one-hit wonder.
