Pénestin
Pénestin (; br, Pennestin) is a commune in the Morbihan department of Brittany in north-western France. Inhabitants of Pénestin are called in French ''Pénestinois''. Geography Pénestin is located in Guérande Peninsula, southeast of Vannes and northwest of Nantes. The mouth of the river Vilaine forms a natural bourndary to the north. Historically, Pénestin belongs to Lower Brittany. As Penestin lies on the coast, it boasts several beaches, the most popular of which are ''La Mine d'Or'' and ''Loscolo''. Map Language Until the beginning of the nineteen's century, the spoken language was breton. Most of the hamlets have breton names. Vilaine
The Vilaine (; br, Gwilen) is a river in Brittany, in the west of France. The river's source is in the Mayenne ''département'' (53), and it flows out into the Atlantic Ocean at Pénestin in the Morbihan ''département'' (56). It is 218 km long. Course of the river The river arises near the towns of Juvigné and La Croixille. Guérande Peninsula
Guérande (; br, Gwenrann, ; french: label=Gallo, Geraundd) is a medieval town located in the department of Loire-Atlantique, and the region of Pays de la Loire, Western France. The inhabitants are referred to as ''Guérandais'' (masculine), and ''Guérandaise'' (feminine). The Guérande Peninsula overlooks two contrasting landscapes: the "Pays Blanc" (White Land), because of its salt marshes, and the "Pays Noir", with the Brière peat bog. Vannes (; br, Gwened) is a commune in the Morbihan department in Brittany in north-western France. It was founded over 2,000 years ago. History Celtic Era The name ''Vannes'' comes from the Veneti, a seafaring Celtic people who lived in the south-western part of Armorica in Gaul before the Roman invasions. The region seems to have been involved in a cross channel trade for thousands of years, probably using hide boats and perhaps Ferriby Boats.
